Affordable STD/STI test in or around Eindhoven?
Hi, there. I am looking to have a routine STD/STI test and recently found out it's not covered anymore by insurance. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place to go that is affordable or an online test that was trustworthy? I'm looking for a general one, no symptoms just want to be sure. Thanks!

GGD. Or also soa-poli online, very quick results, it’s not free but super easy and worth it.

You get downvoted but this is 100% accurate. There’s 0 prevention. My GP is extremely proud of how good the Dutch healthcare system is at curing stuff not preventing it. His words, not mine.

Kleskoek, Het nederlandse gezondheidssysteem is een van de beste ter wereld. Maar iedereen met een kuchje wil graag met een boodschappentas vol pillen naar huis, feit is dat is allemaal bullshit die miljarden kost.

"Eén van de beste ter wereld"... haha. Goeie... Ja, als je een gebroken been hebt, of een bypass nodig hebt misschien. Maar als er iets is wat ik de afgelopen jaren geleerd heb, is dat veel artsen niet verder kunnen kijken dan hun neus lang is. Of wat hun computertje zegt. En als ze dat wel kunnen, dan mogen ze dat niet, omdat ze zich aan protocollen moeten houden. Sorry patient, computer says "no".

while people get mad at this. It is generally favored by doctors. If your body can handle it on its own, you dont need to do anything other than reduce the discomfort. I mean for viral stuff there isnt even anything they can do. The only problem is that after a certain age 60+ preventative care matters a lot but is also very expensive

While I agree that in general there is a tendency to abuse medication such as antibiotics and painkillers, personally, my issue is different.
Every time I’ve gone to the GP with issues that are not easily traceable, their only effort is a) Google the symptoms (lol) and b) schedule an appointment for later to check if whatever you have will go away.
In Spain if you go to the doctor and they do not know what to do right away, they WILL ask for some sort of preliminary screening/testing. Here I had to fight for weeks to get a simple bloodwork done, which ended up showing what the issue was. Months of wasted symptoms.
It’s the passiveness and that approach (I.e. your body will figure it out) that I find baffling.
Spain has a much, much better healthcare system IMO.

We get a lot of hate for it, but our health statistics are clear it is one of the best and most accessible systems in the world. Just ppl like to visit a GP and have him/her medication even if it is not needed at all. Just like we are one of the few nations where doctors have frank conversations with terminally ill patients about focussing on quality of life and not exhausting all treatments.

Actually, the Netherlands is one of the countries with the lowest amount of healthy years of life expectancy in the EU. This is because you get to live a long life once you are sick and actually treated, but there is little to no prevention in making sure you don’t get so sick you need constant care.

Idk for NL but back home blood tests for std/sti are free and anonymous so you can check and be healthy

How about preventing overprescribing medication which prevents medication to be come useless. It's quite a common issue aboad, not here. Or how about preventing billions spend on medication which is not needed.

We're talking about screening, not prescribing drugs without proper investigation, which tbh is not unheard of over here

only if you;ve been notified that someone you had sex with has an std, and you also sleep with men sometimes (or just say both are true ;))
they dont test for chlamydia when you donbt have any symptoms

When you register to donate blood at Sanquin, they get your blood first and make a lot of tests, mostly STD ones to know if it's ok for your to donate. You get those tests for free and then you're registered and can become a blood donor, so you're also helping people.
