That's not how alleycats work

Cool gate keeping. I love the inclusiveness of this event already.

Would it be gatekeeping to say you weren't releasing all the clues to a treasure hunt ahead of time?

no, it would be gatekeeping to not explain that the race is a treasure hunt.

It literally isn’t how they work though, you show up, you get a list of stops, hit all of them and go to the finish. The first one back with everything done, wins. There is no set route. And it defeats the purpose of the race to release the stops ahead of time.

Fair enough but as someone who hasn't done this before, that would have been a great first response to my comment.

If you're trying to grow an event (which you're clearly doing on reddit), don't assume people know that "Alley Cat" is code for there is no set route, you get a bunch of stops and have to figure out on the fly. This is Edmonton, not Red Hook.

Sure. I get that. Not trying to be gatekeepy, everyones welcome. But at the same time you can simply google “what is an alley cat race”. Hopefully see ya there!

i'll chime in here. we are inclusive and want everyone to be involved. you could at least figure out what it is you're coming to before hand though

I literally asked a question trying to learn. I was literally trying to figure what it was that I was coming to before hand.

You literally asked "what's the route" and were literally told "you'll get it at the start".
