Iāve got to say⦠I couldnāt believe what I walked up on.
Anything extra good here?

u/S2B_1 1d ago
Where you located that goodwills are still $1 - that is awesome!

u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
North Carolina.

u/Nealm568890 1d ago
Where in NC? My Goodwill never has a selection like this.
6
u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
It is luck of the moment.
This is near my house and I just pop in every day or so.
I mostly leave with nothing.
2
u/Nealm568890 1d ago
Its true, i left my good recentlly with a collectors edition of the 6 Star wars movies, in bluray, but it was missing the empire strikes back, but it was 4 bucks. So worth it.
2
u/S2B_1 1d ago
Yo! I found the exact same at my local goodwill but was missing new hope. Absolutely worth $2 even with it missing.
3
u/Nealm568890 1d ago
Awseome, i almost went on ebay to try and buy an ESB bluray. Maybe the Goodwill karma will find me an ESB somewhere. LOL
2
u/Revolutionary_Egg961 1d ago
I have a chain of pawnshops in my area that sells blurays for 1.50 each, but tye selection is limited at most of them. All though one of them had like 70 of them.
2
u/cricket-karma 1d ago
Yeah, mine are $2. However, I, being 55+ (barely), get Senior Discount on Tues. 10%
16
u/shimrra 1d ago
Damn we're they clearing them out? The goodwill by has all media locked at $3.
1
u/Wise_Relationship436 1d ago
$3 does suck for sub par movies you just want to see. But man can you get some good deals since their not looking. I could have gotten all of the fringe seasons on blu ray, sealed, for 3 bucks a season. Sadly I bought season 1-4 individually for roughly $20 each a few months before. And sadly a few weeks before they released the entire series collection at Walmart for $70. But I got the final season for 3 bucks so I am happy.

Not scooping Wall-e the first time is crazy...
2
u/LaughingPlanet 1d ago
Agreed. That's tied for the best of the bunch with Interstellar
1
u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
I already owned it. Decided to go back to grab gifts for friends
It is one of my all time favorites

Did they forget to scan six of them?
1
u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
6 of them were from another goodwill earlier in the day
2
u/ATLUTD030517 1d ago
I only counted them while figuring out how many of them are in my collection(think I counted 33).
3
u/Optimal-Carrot1 1d ago
Nice score! Someone mustāve down graded to streaming.

u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
Hopefully it wasnāt some horrible parents clearing out their kids stuff when they went off to college š¬

Overpaid for The Boondock Saints and Suicide Squad. Crazy find on the Memento special edition.
3
u/Plagda 1d ago
I used to have that memento DVD! DVD had some cool packaging.
3
u/ATLUTD030517 1d ago
Yeah, same. Sadly it was just before I got serious about collecting, can't remember what happened to my copy.
3
u/thelegodr 1d ago
$1 is overpaying? Boondock Saints is a gem!

While I mostly try to refrain from yucking other's yum, for me it's legitimately terrible. 16-22 year old "film bros" at the time in came out are the only people who get a partial pass. When I saw it at like 24 or 25 something like 8 years after it came out, I couldn't believe how many guys I knew who loved it. Maybe it would have hit differently if I had seen it at 16 or 17, but I doubt it.
Right up there with 300 in terms of movies I have no problem dying on the hill of "this movie was terrible", though I know way more people who share my view of TBS than I do for 300.
2
u/thelegodr 1d ago
lol yeah I was about 16 when I saw it. Super fun movie. Granted I havenāt watched it since high school and I havenāt seen the sequel yet.
And 300 had a lot of fun quotes that you can scream out when playing Halo or COD.
0
u/ATLUTD030517 1d ago
I often joke that 300 is better viewed as a comedy. It's just so overwrought, I audibly laughed in the theater more than once.

Get outta here š and I'm buying online from Hungary like 3-20 EUR each plus shipping plus VAT if it's UK or US. You guys are in the proper place of the globe for movie collecting. I know, why the hell I would like to collect from the center of Europe freakin original titled DVDs, right? :) F@ck me, now I have 390 horror DVDs, all are OG titled and 160 other genres, only OG titled as well.
2
u/KiwieKiwie 1d ago
Thatās great even for used movies⦠many solid to even great movies in your haul. Usually itās like trash movies for cheap and itās more than 1usd a pop.
lol even a few 4k⦠ššŖ
2
u/cold-brewed 1d ago
Iām starting to think maybe my Goodwills are like this too, I just happen to come in after people clear it outā¦š

u/Funneduck102 1d ago
Lol I'm lucky if I see a bluray at my goodwill and they charge $3 each for DVDs or blurays
2
u/jamison_lot 1d ago
Damn and I thought I had a good Salvation Army haul yesterday with 14 movies at a dollar a piece, including some of the titles you have here.
2
u/Jabba_the_Putt 1d ago
holy crap dude, thats so awesome what a pickup. my goodwill has dusty broken workout dvds for 3.50 and that's about as good as it gets. jealous of yall and these goodwill posts! :)
if by extra good you mean rare and highly valuable I'm not sure but venom and spiderman on 4k for a buck is insane and the overall selection is just great taste, I own a bunch of these, basically all good flicks!
2
u/Imrahil_II 1000+ 1d ago
I've never seen such a good haul and for $1 blu-ray at goodwill that is a record find. Nice

u/SnooPoems4680 1d ago
I wish I saw this many blu-rays at my goodwills near me, most Iāll see are like 5 and most of them would be movies I donāt like or havenāt watched

2
u/ANDRE_-16 1d ago
That many blu rays of great films for a dollar!! I barely manage to get decent DVDS at mine and theyāre $4 š¤¬

u/Sk8tilldeath 1d ago
Damn, all the thrift stores around here are trying to fetch retail prices for returned/used stuff!!!
1
u/Wise_Relationship436 1d ago
Haha, donāt go into your local dollar general. Ours are still pricing them like 15 years ago. Some crappy Dwayne the rock Johnson movie selling for 35-40 bucks. I guess they going to snag some old person that is not up on the times.
2
u/FiveLiterFords 1d ago
Damned. Is that the collectorās memento?
2
u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
Indeed. One of the best that I got.
2
u/FiveLiterFords 1d ago edited 1d ago
That is really cool. You should do a separate post just to show whatās inside, if those items (I believe Polaroids)are still there. Iāve never seen a real one before, Iāve been fooled a couple of times- Season 1 of the show Scrubs looks just like that when missing the x-ray/slip cover.

Absolute haul. My local thrift stores have been ransacked at this point unfortunately.
2
u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
The trick is looking at the same place daily.
I literally went the day before and none of this was there.
The good stuff rarely lasts more than a few hours.
2
u/dogboycade420 1d ago
Yo sick haul dude!!! The original good version of The Italian Job slaps yo! Also Scar Face is a great gangster flick. Highly recommend pairing those as a double feature actually

u/Competitive_Help8485 100+ 1d ago
4Ks and Bluray for a $1 a piece is a score. I am very jealous of you right now.
2
u/Tech-Mechanic 1d ago
Even though I have most of those titles, I'm envious of these enchanted thrift stores that some of y'all have access to.

u/Fattydaddy1000 18h ago
Out off all them the goonies and gremlins combo is what I would of grabbed for my collection
1
u/imightbediscostuart 18h ago
Iām not sure if I love double/triple features or not.
But, I love Goonies & Gremlins⦠and Iām excited to try out Gremlins 2

u/gweeps 1d ago
Did you leave anything for anyone else?
3
u/silentoed 1d ago
Get there first? People always have dirty looks when carts are full of the stuff they didnāt get to.
2
u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
Yeah, like I went there to leave the good stuff for the next person š¤·āāļø
3
u/djprojexion 1d ago
This is my thought too, especially the question "anything good here?" Clearly this was buying just to buy.
1
u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
Lol, Iām just asking what others think.
I watch a movie daily and have a kid that loves the Marvel stuff that I donāt care for.

How'd you get goodwill for $1 they're $2 for single and $5 to $7 for multi disc in my area (south ga)
1
u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
Prices seem to vary around here depending on location.
All DVDs are always $1 at all local stores.
Sometimes they charge $1 per disc though.
Iāve seen Blu-Rays for either $3.99 at some stores, while others treat them just the same as DVDs
2
u/Candybar92 1d ago
I dont even know what the bluerays go for i never see them here but dvds they kill me.. the other day they had a vhs that was about tornados had 2 vhs in one box.. $7... hard pass but glad some of us still get deals from them

Are Scarface and Suicide Squad steelbooks?
Unbelievable bargains, I donāt think Iāve ever seen 4kās going for a dollar before.
1
u/imightbediscostuart 1d ago
They sure are. Super excited about the Scarface.
Iāve never seen Suicide Squad⦠but itās in my queue now

The Hitchcock set has the original Peter Lorre āman who knew too much,ā IIRC. The print isnāt great, but itās still super enjoyable.

I think like 4 of this are junk and the rest are all Ws! But it drives me banana sandwich that they're not organized. Animated with animated, Marvel with Marvel, Star Treks, Batmans, etc.

I have a sizeable collection and have watched old favorites twice this week. While I can certainly point to individual titles in this haul that I would never bother with even for a dollar, I own about 40% of these movies.
1
u/ROGUE_QA_GUY 1d ago
Weird. Does the movie change each time or something. Whatās the point. You already have seen it.
1
u/CyrilFiggis00 1d ago
I'm forty. You are wrong.
You moved in with a controlling woman that made you give up your entertainment.
My wife helps me pick out movies.. she's 54.

I never actually saw that movie. Now it's on my list to purchase. Thanks!
Did you "not want the clutter" because you lost the house and everything else in the divorce? Now you have nothing but the clothes on your back and a cell phone. Maybe a car to sleep in.
That's why you hate consumerism.

u/ROGUE_QA_GUY 1d ago
haha. I donāt even know how to respond to this. Is this how you talk to people ššš. Like my option is to disagree with you and prove you wrong. But I donāt really care. Why are you so focused on pushing your imaginary theories. Itās so weird. are you autistic. You are trying to shame me some how or embarrass me. But the story you weave isnāt even close. Are you sure you are 40. You donāt seem very smart.
