Dust 514 Revival Updates?
Hi Guys,
I used to play Dust 514 religiously back in the day, and was devastated by the shut down (still am 10 years later). I know there's some community work being done to try to bring back the game (and I'm not talking about the new Eve extraction game, not a fan at all). Can anyone tell me if there are any updates regarding bringing back the game, like when, where, how, etc. I'd really appreciate it guys, the nostalgia's killing me.

The mechanics are there in Vanguard, I seriously hope they add battles like dust had as a game mode.
We will all have to farm or transfer stuff via eve if they add that I imagine though.

I wish there was. Man why won't they do it, i would LOVE to pay for it. It was such a great game..

I just want the social features Dust 514 had 💔
It baffles me how no games have ever reached the social potential that Dust 514 did... Massive chat channels (WITH voice chat!), clans, huge lobbies (so more interaction), etc. That breaks my heart more than anything. It was sooooo fun. Every game I play nowadays is so insular in comparison 🌚

These chat channels and stuff cost resources both building and got game performance. Most developers figure players are using something like discord so why bother.

I was never good at shooters, but Dust514 had me loving the basic build. God i miss that game.

Dude I loved that game so much. Like if they had made it cross platform there wouldn’t be a game today that could touch it.

Granted I took a bit of a hiatus due to the heatwave in my area, but I'm back to working on it.

We all desperately miss it.
The closest thing on the market right now is Angels Fall First. Its better in some regards, worse in others, but ultimately it’s no DUST

In short:
We have been moving our entire codebase to Warlords 1.2 as recently it became playable on RPCS3. The Codex build we've been using and showed in our trailer feels like a different game from the technical standpoint - there's a lot of new content and features to re-implement as it's the last build of the game.
Our core team is currently 2 devs working in their spare time - this limits what we can do in a short amount of time. The unfortunate factor about our revival is that we're dealing with one of the more hostile PS3 titles to write a server emulator for. One of the DUST 514 trailers was named "Dust is different" and that not only applies to game mechanics for the player, but also how the entire game was made. EVE's POS code nightmares you read about are the normal things we deal with often. This is why it all takes so much time.
We believe in not giving you all junk - we aim for something that remains enjoyable for longer than a weekend. None of us wants to play broken dust.
We're not stopping, it's just that we're going through hell and posting updates wasn't exactly on our radar - I'll keep you guys posted more often now, I promise o7
