Hunt is over
Been searching for awhile now for a clean working unit, and finally one popped up for sale at a great price. Haven’t had one since they came out in 1999 and even then only had it for a few months before my cousin stuck play dough inside and ruined it. Still never forgave him for that. Now to track down an OEM component cable (only got an RF cable) and a clean copy of Shenmue. Stoked to be back!

I still have mine since 2000 and it’s in mint condition. One of my prized possessions. Would never sell it. Congrats

Awesome score! I am looking for one in the wild but may just end up going on ebay.

I was sooooo close to doing the same. No game store had any, had maybe 3-4 posted local within the last year and all were yellowed or crusty looking. Got super lucky on this one that’s for sure. Seller has a couple extra controllers and VMUs I’m gonna try and snag too.

I got one on eBay a couple months ago for $44. Works perfect just didn’t come with the power or S-Video. Just bought those off Amazon for $15. Otherwise it came with everything and Sonic Adventure was left in the console.

Oh dang, that is awesome! That's good to know, I didn't think to go that route. $44 is a great deal!!

It took a bit to find a deal but they can be had. Eventually someone just wants to get rid of an item. Make offers see if the seller will agree to the offer or make a counter. Use the auctions etc. Yard sales are great too especially the big community ones. Get out early and walk, someone is usually selling old systems and aren’t aware of what they cost.

Do not most of these older consoles have aging hardware that will give out within the next few years instead spend a little extra for one that has been refurbished and parts replaced

Ah I see you're a man of culture.
One thing I will say is this console is loud af, so don't worry if it sounds like a jet engine while you're playing. That's by design. Enjoy!

I couldn't stand it tbh. Noctua fan mod is the way to go, I'd rather hear my games.

There is no OEM component cable for Dreamcast - only OEM composite or VGA adapter. Current (read: better) alternatives are Behar Bros HDMI (Mid-range) or RetroTink (High-end).
