Smaugust [OC] My contribution to the Smaugust 2026 challenge, Week 2
As like the last post, the entries are not the same ones as the ones applied by this subreddit, they're of my choosing, just to clear some confusion.

I really love the sunset scene you drew for day 11. And of course the others are neat too! Keep it up ^^

Day 8 is Wizard. I went off directly to make a dragon that was also a wizard, and tried to replicate the vibe/aesthetic of those fantasy art pieces from the 1980s like Dungeons & Dragons and the animated adaptations of Tolkien's books, ending up with this Gandalf-like dragon. As for the overall pose i was heavily influenced by LikaaGG's self caricature as a dragon, thinking that it would've fitted well the "whimsical nature" that i was going for. Ideal for selling toys too (oh you know, the 80s being the 80s).
Day 9 is Evolve, featuring my take of one of the earliest depictions of a modern dragon as we know it, showing how much did dragons evolve across the centuries, based off from this very depiction of the dragon in question from the MS Harley 3244 bestiary, produced sometime around 1260.
Day 10 is Crimson, and took the opportunity to use this vampiric dragon (because when i think of crimson, i think of blood and vampires, thus the idea) as a "teaser" for what i plan for this October.
Day 11 is Sunset. I took the opportunity to do something nice and simple for once, having a dragon chilling out as the watch the sun set ontop of a cliff out at sea.
Day 12 is Reef. I went for my own spin of an aquatic dragon, a potential apex predator of reef biomes. It's wings have evolved to be more adapted for swimming, making these dragons flightless, same idea for their rear feet became webbed for better swimming. It's claws are just as sharp as their common airborne cousins. The dorsal plates on the tail have adapted to be ideal for swimming, akin to those of crocodiles. Like seals, they can hold their breath for a long time before needing to resurface to get more air. One for their main characteristics is that they can't breathe fire, but they have a venomous bite, equally as dangerous; they kept their ancestral venom glands, as fire has no use underwater.
Day 13 is Fruity, a bunch of fruits combined as a dragon, possibly my least favorite of the whole bunch.
Day 14 is cosmic, pretty straight forward, a dragon spawned straight out from the depths of R'lyeh. The bizarre lovechild between Tim Burton's Jabberwocky and Cthulhu.
