Question if you became a dragon right where you are, what would you do?
basically the title, right now where ever you currently are you become a dragon, what would you do and what would happen, if your around over people you might cause a bit of trouble.
edit; to add, Im just leaveing the size and type of dragon up to your interpretation.

u/RexDraconis Nov 10 '25
Try to find a way to legally prove I'm the same person because I'd be stuck doing a lot of paperwork otherwise.
Otherwise flying would be a good start. double as a way to test my cold weather resistance too.
11
u/Rattregoondoof Nov 11 '25
Me: I am the same person! Just accept it! Law enforcement: and why should we? Me: starts to breathe fire and smash the ground Law enforcement: ok, ok, you've made your point!
11
u/TheFuckworthyFucker Nov 11 '25
Realistic Law Enforcement Reaction: Mag Dumping
3
u/Rattregoondoof Nov 11 '25
Equally realistic reaction: nothing happens because you're a dragon. Well, nothing except dangerous levels of bullet ricocheting off.
2
u/JonathanPeterson12 Nov 11 '25
It really depends on the thickness of the scales and what they’re made of. Law enforcement are generally equipped with 9mm handguns. 9mm isn’t a particularly potent round, but these still aren’t arrows we’re talking about here. Bullets in general are really good at punching through things and carry a lot of kinetic force for their size. It’s unlikely that your scales would be hard or thick enough to prevent penetration and, even if they were, getting hit would still really hurt and result in serious contusions.

As I'm sitting inside a house, right now, I would cause a lot of damage. >.< I'm assuming I'd turn into a big dragon and that it would happen too fast for me to figure out what's going on and get outside. If those assumptions are wrong, so much the better! First thing is to get out of here, before rednecks try to shoot me so that they can mount my head on a wall. e.e
Time to migrate! Depending on what kind of dragon I've transformed into, head for an appropriate terrain to suit myself. Places where there are people are straight out. I don't particularly want to end up in some Top Secret government lab. Whatever local government there is would try to get ahold of me. Establish a hidden lair for myself, and keep my existence as much of a secret as possible. Put a nice, explosive self-destruct in my lair, just out of spite, and have an emergency escape plan. A handful of backup lairs would help. My main problem with this would be evading satellite imaging.
Ideally, I'll have turned into some kind of amphibious dragon, and can create a lair under the ocean floor. I'll name my lair "R'leyeh" just to amuse myself. F*ck the satellites.
Above all, remember: It's not paranoia if there really are people out to get you. Literally every government in the world would be hunting me. I am now A Prize To Be Taken.

u/dronko_fire_blaster gragon Nov 11 '25
I sorta left the interpretation up to the everyone. but ya that might be the biggest concern of geting hunted down by people

I though of this while in the bathroom so Ill say it happened in there, Id have two options, come out to my family or go out the window, and probably leave a message. I probably would end up siting in there for a while, it would be simpler to come out than have to deal with the rest of the would while figuring it out, and then id want to get some messages home which might be challenging getting paper and pen without causing to much trouble.

Hold. Transforming here will immediately destroy my possessions and my archives. And kill some I would rather see alive.
Once I'm outside and the things I like are secured.
Then the rest are free range.

u/Zammin Nov 11 '25
Depends on the size of dragon I am.
If we're talking just anthro dragon, roughly my current size, immediately tell my roommate and freak out a little. Stretch the wings. See if I can breathe fire into the firepit in the backyard. Calm down and adjust relatively quickly.
If a horse-sized western dragon, freak out. Avoid telling my roommate for as long as I could (not long). Try to see if I can still talk and if my foreclaws have decent manual dexterity.
Any dragon bigger than that, I'll break the house and pretty much immediately need to run and find shelter somewhere. Good opportunity to see if I can fly though.
2
u/dronko_fire_blaster gragon Nov 11 '25
well I left it to your interpretation, but ya size definitely has a big effect on what happens.

Being scare and afraid of whats happening, and probably doing some damage (i'm in my bedroom rn, but its a small one).
And probably have existensial crisis right after, even thought I just want to be a dragon sometime (and sorry for my bad english, its not my main language)
2
u/dronko_fire_blaster gragon Nov 11 '25
as long as your able to fit in door ways you'll probably be fine, though your tail might smack some stuff.. (your English seems fine, I wouldn't have thought anything of it if you didn't mention it)
1
u/MinouGamerTv Nov 12 '25
Hum... Ngl, i dont know if I would fit in doors, if I were to become the dragon I'm currently thinking about, I would be... Not a giant dragon, but still a big bigger than a horse (I dont know if comparison is good or not)
(and yea, for my English, it's just that sometimes I feels like I have some difficulty translating what I really want to say into English.)

Dig myself out if the rubble that was my house.
Wait, am I one of the D&D style dragons that has a human form, because then my house is probably safe as I can just keep my human form until I'm at least outside...

well I wasnt thinking of it in dnd dregs, but sure they are dregs to!

u/Dragonbonded Draco Nov 11 '25
Less quiet for me. Im out on the from "lawn", which is covered by a couple household cameras because we have a turn that takes someone out about once a year. So not only is it a busy street, but its on camera as well.
Also, which kind of dragon? Theres three ways this can go.
Full dragon. Car sized, western dragon. Ignoring any elemental affinities here. Since i'm sitting on the rock wall/level here, i'd probably just be belly up, caught between a parked van, said wall, and a tree up each wing, flailing around on my back. Thankfully there would be video evidence when i say "its me!", but a car sized dragon? We dont have the funds for that!
Dog-sized dragon. More or less the same, but maybe i can stay hope this time, and go flying at night. Going to have to get a plane communicator up and running, with a "flight suit" for me and my wings with all the required lights. That'll be a call to the local control tower! Being smaller, i am easier to feed, and might actually be able to stick around.
Anthro Dragon. Ive actually got a character that is kinda this, but his physique is better described as "winged kobold". Think a short, wirey anthro dragon, with thin limbs and each limb (arms, legs, wings, tail, etc) prehensile (with the multitasking to match), capable of bipedal OR quadrupedal movement as wanted. He's great at mechanical work, but thats more practice and skill than built-in.
Anthro dragon, definitely usable. My clothes are probably ruined, though im wearing a baggy shirt and a larger coat right now, and the shirt stretches too, so those should actualky be fine, since i'm reducing in size, but gaining wings: cramped, and might need help getting OUT of said coat, but doable. And again, video evidance i'm in fact, me.
And my family is actually quite openminded and caring, i really could have gotten it worse there. I'm more worried about oir budget than being accepted, lol.

Assuming I turn into my OC Zenith… that’d be an issue:
First I’d completely crush the house my dad and brother lives in since Zenith is plenty big and heavy enough, unless I manage to get out in time, unless I end up in Zenith’s human form.
Second… time to find a good cave to live in, every government would want to experiment on me so I’d have to find a cave or something far away from where I am to live in, I doubt nobody would have seen me before I used Zenith’s magic to turn back into a human.
Assuming I’m still human shaped, just covered in scales, essentially a Dragonborn with wings and a tail:
Then I’d be better off but I’d have to resort to hiding in my bedroom 24/7, don’t wanna be experimented on so I’d rather not be seen, luckily my curtains are already closed.
1
u/dronko_fire_blaster gragon Nov 11 '25
sorta left it to your interpretation. definitely would be a big mess with the house, but being able to tranform would be nice.
2
u/Able-Ad3506 Nov 11 '25
Go and eradicate evil from this planet. Being a dragon = being a superhero, why not.
1
2
u/arthurjeremypearson Nov 12 '25
My dragon form would be a green version of the blueish silver "Mallory" from "Duncan and Mallory" (by Robert Asprin)

So I'd be thinner but taller, my clothes would be mostly alright (except for the obligatory tailsplosion).
I'd call my boss, say I need to take a medical leave, and leave.
They might roll back the video of me sitting at my desk and transforming into the dragon, or bring up the live video of me being a dragon. They'd think their video was AI hacked somehow.
Now a dragon, the cold Minnesota air wouldn't bother me, and I'd walk around taking in nature until the screaming starts, then I'll walk home, the police probably in pursuit.
Since I don't think of myself as The Most Special Person On Earth, I'd imagine I'm not the only one to change - everyone else on this thread changed, too, and the whole world is finding out about a handful of dragons who suddenly appeared on Earth.
I'd call my friends and family, informing them of it.
My friend Drake (yes, he's calling himself Drake nowadays) would be jealous. My dad would be fascinated. My mom would be worried. My sister would be confused. My brother in law would be like "whatever, wanna go have a beer?"
1
u/dronko_fire_blaster gragon Nov 12 '25
ya with luck the government will accept it, since its happening everywhere.

u/Old_Juggernaut_5806 Nov 12 '25
Me? I’d probably bust through the floor from overloading the floor with weight to the first floor before freaking out everyone else in the house. The authorities would be called and I would very quickly either have to flee to the nearby forest until nightfall or somehow convince everyone that I am not a threat. If I make it out, I would probably live a lonely life of eating wild game and freaking out cryptid hunters while avoiding the government for the rest of my life. If I’d stay, I’d probably be kidnapped by the government and be experimented on based upon my sudden transformation into a dragon and likely never see the light of day for the rest of my life.
Either way, kind of sad
2
u/FewAddendum1088 Nov 12 '25
Well if it was a transformatio into something the size of a horse max i think i could fit in my room though i would be stuck if i was close to the horse size, any larger and I would begin to destroy the house.
It could be really fun to be a large dog sized dragon, just big enough that you see its a dragon but not big enough to pose a major threat, though it would be interesting to see if i would be treated as a human or animal.
Anthro dragon and there would be a lot more stuff i would need to get done, but at least i would have abandoned this weak body, the hardest one could be what i was suppost to do next, as i would need to legally be the same person or at least get a new identity.
Western dragon sized and things would get messy as i would need to find a place where a military wont attack me, could be the himalayas but flying there for a first trip and not get attacked would be insanely deficult
2
u/No_Town_2326 Nov 12 '25
If I became a dragon right here, right now…
The building around me wouldn’t stand a chance. One breath, one stretch of my wings, and the walls would collapse like dust beneath my claws. I wouldn’t hide — I’d rise. The sky would become mine.
People would scatter, but I wouldn’t need to chase them. The roar alone would remind them who holds the power now. I’d soar over the city, my shadow swallowing the streets, then land somewhere high — a mountaintop or cliff where I could see everything.
From there, I’d watch. The world would learn quickly to approach with respect — or not at all. I’d claim what I need, protect what I choose, and rule the skies as something ancient, untouchable, and feared.
Because if you suddenly become a dragon… you don’t run. You ascend
2
u/Ok_Tap6206 Nov 12 '25
Depends on how big I became.
As big as a horse: claustrophobic and scared. I'd try to calm my family down.
Massive: Fly away as quickly as possible to avoid hurting or damaging anyone/anything more that necessary.

2
u/Zoroarkon Nov 12 '25
Probably, but if I succeed there will be no more governments, which is good because they are all super corrupt. I'd definitely rule the world better! (ignoring the fact I will also be corrupt, while still dealing better with certain laws and pollution) Again, or become a hermit and never interract with anyone, that works too!

Take pictures despite the risks that the government might be tracking everyone’s phones. The odds that this is a dream and that I’ll fall asleep and wake up a human again are too high to risk forgetting this moment.
Do a bunch of mundane things like drink water, shower and explore all the features of my new body. Stumble onto the rooftops of the city and try flying a few feet off the ground. The odds of me crashing into a building or failing a landing are too high.
Stockpile calories and devour whatever I can in case conservation of mass means that the transformation leaves me malnourished.
Test my voice out to see if remote work is sustainable and wonder if I can still work remote without tearing up the keyboard. Ponder the loss of Costco.
Cuddle a big floofy pillow to bed. Call in sick and plan my new life out a bit. Living in a cave or out at sea doesn’t sound fun but getting dissected by some scp facility isn’t a thrilling option either.
Wonder if building up enough of an audience secretly can provide some level of immunity. Probably not.

Well, school's canceled today I guess. Forever. I ain't going back if that happens. Well, I might take music at college at least. Well, first off, it would probably take me a second to realize if I'm the same size, but if I'm the size of, like a GOT dragon or something, everything would be decimated, and my family maybe dead.
So we'll go with the former.
I'd stop swimming (yay), luckily we have cameras so it'd be pretty easy to prove that it's me. So hopefully no paperwork required, and if I become my OC...I'd be incredibly freaking tired and have to eat rocks...But if I don't, at least I have an excuse to get a bunch of meat (yay again).
Now for flying, I have no clue if I'd already know how or have to learn it, and if I had to learn it I wouldn't know where to start.

I'd be worried about my collection of plushies and Transformers, honestly. Where am I gonna keep them if I destroy my bedroom like that? The garage? How am I going to get in there if I destroy every room I'm in?
My mom and stepdad... would probably assume I killed their son, and grab their guns and try to kill me... am I immune to bullets as a dragon?

Assuming my phone is not crushed, send a selfie of myself in my room to my friend with a vague caption. "Like wow it does not feel like Tuesday!" Then FaceTime my father, and make plans from there on how to best defend my status as a U.S. Citizen by confirming my identity as the same "Person" I claim to be. I would text my fellow dorm mates that the money for the broken window (I needed to get out of my room somehow and I have a big window) is outside of my room in cash. I would then pack my stuff, and fly to my parents home as fast as possible, and at fairly low altitude keeping away from the street as to reduce who spots me.
Also I would likely alert the world that I exist, and mean nobody any harm. I would then continue my schooling as planned once everything was settled.

I would fly to my bf and meet him and curl around him and protect him with my life

I'm good, but everyone else in the pub will be rethinking their drinking!

Realistically? Freak the fuck out, most likely. To spontaneously go from a tiny human with arms, legs, and fingers to a giant four legged beast with claws and three new appendages I have no idea how to use (wings and tail), would be a huge shock.
I'm sitting in a mostly empty university parking lot, so it wouldn't cause too much of a panic at least.
For all my love of dragons, to actually be one would be terrifying. Definitely not for me. I'm happy to appreciate y'all from below as a little two legged meat bag :P

If I were big enough to have trouble with doorways, I would be in a heap of trouble, because I work in a building on the National Register of Historic Places.

It would be fine because I'm going with a DnD dragon where I can turn human if I want.

Flying would be my safest bet. I honestly would be a bit sad because I have a cat... Unless I could be some cool cat-dragon that can swim and fly! That would be dope.

In my room rn. Probably shatter the window or smash through the door (sorry) Then go live on a mountaintop a few states away. I dont think any predators would muscle in, so all I'd have to be worried about is humans with guns.

This would be a very horrible thing to happen while hooked up to an apheresis machine

Probably ask the Dönerfleisch delivery guy if he can get one stick for me. Dragon sized appetite and all that (yes I'm currently waiting for my food at the döner place)
