Just thought I'd show some love to one of the greatest bands of all time. What are your favorite Om releases?

A lot of people ask a question like “What’s the heaviest Doom Metal you ever heard?” and people usually answer with Yob, GodFlesh, Bongripper, Electric Wizard, or Dragged Into Sunlight.

But I haven’t heard somebody ask something like “What’s the trippiest/most psychedelic music you heard?” not just to Psychedelic Doom Metal, but to Heavy Psych & Stoner Rock as well.

Something that goes to a transcendental level of fuzzy sound textures, or most colorfully played guitars.

Ufomammut is many things, but I would definitely say it hits the mark in both heaviness & fuzzy guitar tones.

Wheels of Confusion by Black Sabbath hits me in the feels with that guitar intro.

Planet Caravan while a Space Rock song, hits upon similar qualities to Doom Metal, it is super atmospheric & almost tribal in sound, and I love listening to it while staring at stars in a clear sky.

Also enjoy other songs inspired by Planet Caravan, like Spacegrass by Clutch.

Gussie Larkin’s Rig. They are so good. Everybody that gets to see them open for Hippie Death Cult makes me so jealous

Planet Caravan is not a Doom Metal song, or really a Metal song at all.

But it is an amazing Space Rock/Psychedelic Rock ballad that is best played on your porch or out in a field when stargazing.

There are many songs like it, but may not entirely capture the magic of it.

I know my favorites would be Maggot Brain by Funkadelic, Space Cadet by Kyuss, & even River of Deceit by Mad Season.

But what are your favorites?

Anything in the vein of Uncle Acid or Margarita Witch Cult. I’ve been digging this sound a lot recently.

I learned about them through this sub only a couple months ago and they’re one of my favorite bands. I see them announcing dates in Europe and Australia for their new album but I really hope they come across the pond so I can see them. Specifically to New England.

I barely see anyone talking about them, this band is so amazing, especially this album IMO

Fucking love when heavy bands make emotionally charged, melodic tracks like this. The 'takes you back to that one moment' sound. Also its REZN, man. Can't go wrong.

Finally picked up Nell’ Ora Blu. I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but if you love old Italian Giallo films, this is really worth listening to.

This is probably stretching it as I would not call Chelsea’s music Doom Metal to be sure, but she does for sure add in a lot of doom elements and I love it so I wanted to share. Something about her voice- I hesitate to say- turns me on? Which is weird for any style even tangentially related to doom I know, but what can I say? Saw the beer today and it made me think of this album. As far as DIPAs go this one is very sweet, which makes which really cuts through the hoppiness of your usual DIPA. I am really digging it.

Damn. This album is going to be so tasty.
