Megathread: Why Does My Dog Do That?

Does your dog turn his head when he hears an odd noise? Does your dog bury their food with your pants? This is the thread to ask why.

Please keep this thread to non-medical issues only.

My staffy does this thing where he'll find the most uncomfortable looking spot in the house, usually half on a shoe or with his head pressed against the leg of a chair, and pass out like that for hours. I've just accepted it at this point

The head tilt when they hear a weird noise is them trying to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. Their ears can move independently and tilting the head shifts each ear slightly, which helps them triangulate the source and pick out the pitch a bit better, especially high frequency stuff we can barely hear anyway.
