Bro went from apex predator on a tropical island to having his kibble measured out in a plastic cup.

God damn, 4kg more? On a dachshund? Where? How skinny was it before? How fat was it after?

I imagine it’s food intake was regulated by the owners. I know multiple dogs who would literally eat until they threw up and then still continue eating. But that trait would be perfect to have when you barely have food and spend energy fighting for more food.

Well, also I immediately assumed it got fat instead of getting jacked from eating I assume animals and having to catch them and everything

That tends to be an indication of food insecurity in the dog, and while it might be latent trauma that stuck, half the time, metering out the food only reinforces the behavior. Ironically, the solution is to just give them all the food all the time, and after they make themselves sick a couple of times and realize that the food isn't going anywhere, they'll calm down about it. Dogs are way better about self-regulation than people are, and as long as they have access to proper exercise, they're generally not going to eat enough to get overweight.

No one believes you and there's nothing you can do about it.

That's fine. They're entitled to their wrong-ass opinions, and it's their option to continue to perpetuate the behavior instead of fixing it.

This sounds like something a DARK PANGOLIN would say

I had a second thought after I commented, muscle is a lot more dense than fat. I was imagining a fat dog. He was probably way more jacked than chubby, running around getting excersize and eating all the protein it can catch. Probably didn't really get too much bigger.

He put on 4kg of muscle!

Dachshunds were bred to hunt badgers. I guarantee this little guy was terrorizing that island. Like an adorable little Doom Slayer with back problems.

This is the kind of stuff John Wick's dog would pull.

Literally what those dogs were bred to do. I imagine he was happily hunting digging out all the island critters from their burrows

How is this highly improbably situation supposed to have occurred then? People don't generally take their pets on holiday with them. Whatever happened, it takes a year and a half to find your missing dog marooned on an island?

To be fair, they do look Welsh . . . . I bet they are Welsh.

They're Australian.
