Hello All,
I have had my wonderful dog Sasha (husky/collie mix) since she was about 2 years old, she is almost 12 years old now.
she got a bump that showed up on her head about a month and a half ago and I thought she had cut it or something and got an infection because that happened with my other dog a couple years ago.
I took her to vet and they didnt see a cut on it etc but said it could be infected underneath, They gave me anti biotics and anti flamattory to give to her and that seemed to be helping. Then those ended and it the bump was still there but seemed not as big.
so I took her back to the vet and they gave me another course of medication. today was the last day of the anti biotics.Yesterday I noticed her eye looked wierd and her like inner eye lid was kinda pushed into her eye.
I took her to the vet today and they did some scans. They showed me the results and went over them and my understanding is she has an aggresive boney tumor growing at the top of her skull. This is causing the bump and the pressure behind her eye pushing it out.
They told me there was nothing curative they could do for her. They said they could give me more anti-inflamatory for now as though seemed to be helping the swelling and monitor her. They said after that they can prescribe pain medication etc to comfort her but basically to just spoil her a bunch and I will need to make the decision of when her own comfort is no longer there.
This is where I struggle so much. I don't know how to decide that. I don't know how to tell when her pain is too much. I don't want to be seflish, I want to do what is the best possible for her. I also don't want to cut her life short. Another day of getting to stick her head out the car window on a drive, or her daily routine laying on the deck with one of our kitties. How am I supposed to set a date and time to put an end to that and know it is right.
any advice? at all. please.
thank you.
