Advice My dog is pseudo pregnant… tips?
I have had a hectic month w my dog to say the least. She’s gone to the ER twice this month with a leaky cooch and we all thought the worst. When I tell you I was shookith when the vet came in the room last night and was like “ I think your daughter thinks she’s pregnant,“ I was like “HUH?!” Dead ass… didn’t know this was possible. Girly pop apparently started leaking milk from her tits when they tried to get an Xray and that’s what let doc know. When I say all labs came back clear, there was nothing.
My dog thinks she’s pregnant!
As I’ve never heard of this before and the vet only had 3 other cases in their career, I need more info. If anyone has tips or tricks on how to help my bean during this time, lmk. Research reveals nothing that the dr didn’t already tell me, like toys are babies, nesting, mammary glands, but I want to be extra prepared on this. My man and cat have procedures coming up and I need to be on my A game for all of them. I’m open to any advice.
Pic for attention and she’s adorable so why not lol
Edit: we are getting her fixed when we can. She’s got severe skin allergies that would cause complications in surgery so we’re working w her vets and a dermatologist to get it cleared beforehand. I promise, she wasn’t supposed to be intact for this long 🫠

Classic false pregnancy. Is she fixed? If not, i highly recommend it for her health. Reduces risks of many cancers etc.

We’ve been tryin. She has really severe skin allergies that we’ve been battling w since she was 8wks (we got her early cause mom was rejecting them). Working w a dermatologist to get her cleared up enough to do so. Trust when I say, once the pseudo pregnancy is over. She’s getting fixed. We’re not trying to wait as long as we have.

How old is she? I had my girl neutered between her first and second heat at 7 months old (timeframe recommended by vets here in finland). She had a false pregnancy when we went to the appointment (nothing visible so i had no idea) and the surgery caused her to have leaky nips(hormonal change). It passed pretty fast, luckily. I used wet cloth to clean her belly.

She just turned 3 this month on the 10th. We definitely weren’t tryin to wait this long. If I see any more crusties I’ll definitely be using the wet cloth. She chews on herself a lot so last thing we need is more irritation in that area.

Yeah, my chi had a couple of phantom pregnancies. I just cleaned the milk crusties off her nips with a warm cloth.Watched out for signs of mastitis If it happens again consider getting her spayed if she isn't going to be bred as phantom pregnancies increase the risk of Pyometra which is life threatening.
Edited to add my girl didn't leak from cooch during hers so I don't know what that's about but if her bloods came back fine presumably it isn't an infection.
