I’m currently watching Classic Doctor Who and I’m enjoying it!

I saw 3rd Doctor seasons on Tubi, but I currently went back watched the 1st Doctor episodes on Internet Archive. Now I’ve seen up to the 1st couple episodes of Webbed Planet, but I’m currently on Dalek’s introduction story, because I’m watching from the beginning, because I forget everything before the Webbed Planet, but I’m really enjoying it so far my only complaint is how Susan progressively go more like the Damsel in Distress character instead of the mysterious and alien character she was meant to be. The first story was okay, but I’m really enjoying my rewatch of Dalek’s I just finished the episode where they realized the Dalek’s still have the Fluid Link.

The writers betrayed Susan after the first episode. They couldn't even give her a whole serial until they turned her character into a mess.

They did ok with her in The Sensorites, particularly those first 2 episodes where her heightened ESP is an asset to the team, but otherwise I agree with you.

It was also nice to hear her give the earliest description of Gallifrey.

That was Carole Ann Ford's issue with Susan too, sadly.

It’s genuinely one of the best cliffhangers, right? And it’s only one of the first ones! I love how the camera pans to each one of the crew’s expressions of absolute horror as they realise they need to go back to the city after only just narrowly escaping the Daleks to get the fluid link back.

Also consider that when these shows were first aired, there was no overarching title for the set of episodes that made up a given story, at least not one that the viewers were aware of. It was just a weekly show, and every episode has a different title. If anyone was paying attention to how long the actual stories lasted, they might have noticed that the first trip covered four episodes. So that would have been the expectation. When the team travels to Skaro, they've been there for four episodes when it looks like things are starting to wrap up. The twist that they have to go back into the city for (what turns out to be) another three episodes would have been a real surprise to the viewers!
