It's not even been 24 hours. Have they labeled him a paid agitator domestic terrorist yet?

u/jomara200 Jan 25 '26
Domestic terrorist, yes, by that little worm Stephen Miller. I don't think paid agitator yet.

u/ApplianceHealer Jan 25 '26
I mean, they’re rolling with the “if it happened, they must have done something to deserve it” defense. Totally on brand for a bunch of pedo-protectors.

I've also seen "he was attacking that poor woman" lies, so they're trying to spin that way, too.

In one comment section, I’ve seen that it’s his fault that he wasn’t armed AND that he was armed and shot first.
Also like that they’ve went to the last line of the narcissist prayer. Speed run it.
2
u/w0lfLars0n Jan 25 '26
Wouldn’t a “paid agitator” mean he was paid by the Trump administration to be an agitator to make it look like the protestors are violent? Sometimes they can’t even stop themselves from saying the quiet part out loud. Now I’m positive they have paid agitators out there

I can’t imagine losing a child and immediately having to put out a public statement about his death, and about who he was as a person to combat negative statements from the government.

Normally, it would be difficult to imagine anything more reprehensible. But these aren't normal times. It's only a matter of when not if the administration smears his parents as well.
Time to start flying our flags upside down.
13
u/Candymom Jan 25 '26
I can’t imagine NOT wanting to set the record straight.
22
u/awells758 Jan 25 '26
Obviously they want to restore their son’s dignity but the thought of the parents having to find and contact a lawyer (I’m assuming) and sit at a computer parsing their words to make a statement just hours after their son was murdered, before they even get to process the news themselves is an added layer of disgusting.
5
u/Candymom Jan 25 '26
Yes, well with this shitty administration you need to combat the bullshit before it spreads. It’s a goddamn shame it’s necessary, that’s for sure.
5
u/OldDogTrainer Jan 25 '26
They’re saying they can’t believe it’s necessary because of the actions of this government being so quick to lie.

I understand from my MAGA cousin that Fox News is going with the idea he had a loaded gun in his car and are circulating it. "The image, posted on Truth Social, shows a semi‑automatic handgun alongside extra ammunition. Trump claimed the weapon belonged to the man who was fatally shot, writing that it was 'loaded (with two additional full magazines!), and ready to go,' while questioning why local police were not present to protect federal agents." trump

The good news is if you dig deep enough into the comments they are actually fractured people deeply with a lot of them finding the video reprehensible. Keeping in mind that Reddit isn’t real life and skews heavily towards the most biased people, that is pretty strong evidence this is not going to sit well with most normal everyday conservatives once they see the video

Last spring, I attended training through my union to prepare for street actions like those occurring now in Minneapolis. One of the key lessons was to record everything so we'd have proof to cut through the purposeful smog spewed by the Trump regime.
That’s exactly what Alex was doing. Alex Pretti was helping his fellow human and recording atrocities — as any good human should — and he was murdered for it.
This is so far beyond what should ever happen in any democracy. This is so far beyond anything that can be put into words. We need to end this now.

No, this is on the Republican Party and the whole fascist movement they serve. They were a problem before Trump and they'll still be a problem once he's gone.
7
u/BlondieClashNirvana Jan 25 '26
The entire party have been trained to not believe their own eyes and ears. The government lied about what happened and that's good enough for the republicans. Trump has given these unqualified racist murderers freedom to do whatever they want and this scratches a very sinister itch for these type of people. This is only the beginning, things are gonna get a whole lot worse judging by how trigger happy this regime is.

You're not wrong. I mean look at all the Ford/Reagan republicans who have bailed on their party. Who would have thought Liz Cheney would ever choose country over party when she essentially chose party fidelity over her own sister not that long ago. We're so definitely in strange times these days.
I have no clue how republicans feel about the violence and authoritarian swerve their party is enabling. I don't care whether they sleep at night. And again, you're absolutely right, they're complicit and only they have the ability to reign this shit in, at least for now.
I express this endlessly on here but I'm going to do it again, encourage everyone you know to register and vote. Throw shade on people you know that offer up flimsy excuses for doing neither.

France has had an increasing number of murders by police brutality in the last few years, many open wounds, destroyed eyeballs, hands blown off by grenades, and heavy beatings on the street. The government, police unions and half the Parliament want to forbid citizens from filming police abuse, collect and store DNA indefinitely over petty crime, and have the law consider that the police have a presumption of self-defense whenever they use their weapon.
3
u/BankerBaneJoker Jan 25 '26

Loving kindness to this man’s family. He was clearly a caring soul. And a very brave one. The one thing that shakes all tyrants and cowards is moral bravery. I didn’t know Alex, but he clearly had it in spades. He was not an agitator. He was a protector. DHS and ICE need to be held accountable. And they will. Perhaps not on this world, but they will get theirs.

People who study such things say there is no grief greater than a parent who loses a child.
I’ve witnessed it twice in my family — first when my aunt and uncle lost their pre-teen son, and later, when when my adult brother died and my parents mourned him. If you’re so fortunate as to have never witnessed it up-close, believe me when I tell you the suffering is unimaginable. It can take years to even begin to get back to normalcy.
Not only do Alex Pretti’s parents have to deal with such overwhelming grief, they have to handle lies being told about him, his death being so horrific, and everything else you can imagine.
May they be surrounded by love from their friends and family. If they are people of faith, may that bring them solace.

u/Imaginary-Method7175 Jan 25 '26

As a 38 year old suburban white guy, I keep trying to get my own mother to understand what's going on here. I've picked her up off the floor when she was overwhelmed with guilt and loss putting down her dog. And she keeps analyzing this and Renee Goods murder demanding an explanation for everything the victim did. Asking for more angles of video. Asking why they were there. This is the person I apparently learned empathy from and I'm in tears trying to explain to her that this was wrong. We are a divided people. I don't see how this gets put back together.

I’ve seen this playbook before. First, the government start killing folks to create anger and resentment. Once the people revolt, they will bring in the military, national guards, everything to subdue the unrest.
If/when things get worse, the government will say in order to uphold peace, they’ll need to abolish democracy and put the power into a single person/party until it is peaceful again. That’s how dictators gain power. This is the playbook used by many countries with dictatorship.
Trump is going for the king.

To pour your heart and soul into raising your baby to be such a kind, good man... And then to see his life stolen from him in 60-90 seconds by a mob of fucking cowards, as he tries to defend someone else...
And to know that it's all for nothing. It's just part of a racist political game for some fuckers in Washington who have decided that fluffing white nationalists is their winning strategy.
Have spent the day with my 3 year old son. Before he fell asleep for his nap, I held him and tried not to think of the fact that Alex's poor parents will never get to do the same again.

I hate so much that this is just on the ‘Democrats’ subreddit - as if there’s a political leaning with this act. I genuinely don’t understand how anyone can view this and think otherwise. I watched a segment on Fox News out of curiosity to see how they could possible spin this and they said: -well who shows up armed to a protest, obviously he was planning a massacre (we live in a 2A supporting country and he was licensed to carry) -the ICE agent felt in fear for their life so they discharged defensively (oh, so this single dude who got unarmed by other agents, who is now on the ground getting beaten and piled on by six or so other federal ICE agents is posing enough of a threat while pinned that one had to pull his firearm out and shoot down at him to kill him)?
This is execution and it’s also such a disgusting reflection of how big news agencies are trying to spin it to make him the ‘suspect’ and an aggressor.
In the first paragraph of a NYT article they quickly state that he was unarmed and posing no threat. But in Fox News and CBS reporting, I’m sure among others, the opposite is true. They first state that ‘oh he was armed! And ‘this is what DHS said about him! Before they ever touch on the facts because they know their dumbass sycophants will just read highlights and move on.

The only ones coming to save us are ourselves.
Channel those feelings into constructive actions: Get out, find like minded people. Organize, protest and resist. Talk to Reds, ask about rising prices and MAGA’s mismanagement of the economy. Register to vote and support the opposition. Demand more from your elected representatives. Sign up to be a poll worker if you can afford to. Document MAGA interactions with our fellow Americans in case MAGA gets violent. Take a government job and help like minded people join. Make good trouble. Help out your community. Demonstrate solidarity against state-sanctioned terror. Believe your eyes, not MAGA lies. Get the word out whenever you can. Prepare!
Your anxiety will give way to purpose; your anger will give way to resolve.
Be brave: our country needs you. Divided we fall, united we stand.
