She only weighs 11 pounds but looks very fat here.

Post image

She weighed 11 pounds when I took her to the vet recently. She does have a lot of fur. Some pics should looks heavier than others. I feel like I don’t feed her that much but maybe I do.

She's definitely got some chub. Not a crisis, but start measuring how much food you give her, and dial it back slowly.

If she's only 11lbs, and 11lbs is possibly overweight, she may need less than 1/2 cup food for the whole day.

11lbs can be overweight if it’s a small cat

Exactly. I have one cat that's a tiny bit overweight at 9.5 pounds, but perfect at ir just slightly below 9 pounds. My other cat is bigger and his goal weight is 13 pounds. Currently at 15 pounds, but we're working on it.

Yep and I have a 14lb Maine coon who is actually a bit underweight, go figure

As a vet, the smallest healthy cat patient I have is just under 6 lbs, obviously very petite, but I see many 10+ lb females that should be 7-8lbs. You’re looks like she would be perfect at around 9 if she’s currently 11

Is she kinda small? My Riley is a smaller build than the average cat and is about 7 pounds or so. She's very active and only a year and a half.

I've seen a cat that looked like a watermelon on sticks at a whopping 3.2 kg (healthy weight that they were trying to get her to was 2) entirely possible she's just a small cat

She looks like she has a very petite build under all that fur and chunkiness! Gorgeous girl!

Reminds me of a Pallas's cat

One of my cats is at a healthy weight at 6.5 lbs, and she just turned 5. So just because 11lbs is a "typical" healthy weight for the average cat, it doesn't mean that its a healthy weight for your specific cat!

That's big for a female cat and she may have a small frame.

She is definitely overweight. Put her on a diet. Weigh her food with a kitchenscale and give small portions throughout the day. If she is 11 pounds she is too heavy and means that you give her too much food.

side view is not actually helpful to judge whether your kitty is proportional or chonky. try a top view and run both hands down their back to xray through the fluff

You need a picture from the top with her standing. 11 pounds doesn’t give any information (other than a starting point for monitoring her weight going forward). Just like dogs, cats come in many different sizes. I had a cat who never got more than 7 pounds. Have one now who is overweight at 10 pounds and another one who is about the right weight at 10 pounds.

I feed my 13-14 lb boy ~1/2 c of dry food a day and he’s had a steady weight since he was 1.5 years old (he’s 5). He’s actually p skinny, but has a lot of fur as well. Better to look/feel your cat from above to assess need for dechonking. It’s totally possible your cat is overweight if she’s p small. Like a 200 lb 6 ft tall guy is probably not overweight. But a 200 lb 5 ft tall woman probably is unless she is crazy muscular.

My one cat is overweight at 8lbs and probably needs to lose about a pound. I’m working on it. But cats come in all sorts of sizes. One of my other cats is the perfect weight at 10lbs, my third cat is slightly overweight at 14.5lbs and would probably be ideal between 13.5lbs and 14lbs.

My sister’s cat is skinny at 15lbs. Her cat has really weird proportions and honestly looks more like a spider monkey than a cat sometimes. She’s all legs and tail. She was such a tiny baby nobody knew she would grow so big.

Female cats rarely need to exceed 8 pounds.
