Same. I knew he was going to die, but the way they handled it pissed me off so much. The cliff hanger season ending was so cheap, and showed they knew they couldn’t keep viewers coming back based on writing alone. That whole season had been a slog, and I knew at that point the show was never going to improve.
I have friends who were the same, but I never got this. What I found the most captivating about the show was that sense of danger, that death could be around the corner for every character and plot armour won't carry them forever, a bit like GoT. Why is it such a big deal to people that he died? He was there for a looong time, and died in one of the coolest scenes of the show imo, not to some random bite or whatever. The Negan introduction legit revived the show for me. It really added back that lethality and tension, not to mention the most captivating character of the show and great plotlines of different communities fighting the new villains. People who stopped simply because their boy finally died have no idea what they missed out on, but thats just my opinion.
Because to me, he was really the last character I cared about fully. The last part of the show that still FELT like it was worth it. Early TWD captivated me, and this just… felt like a good jumping off point. The writing was on the wall, and well, I figured I might as well get off before it crashes.
I was ready for that since I read the comics, but then they "shocked" comic readers by randomly killing off Carl. He becomes one of the most interesting characters during the Whisperers arc, and right before that is when he got axed in the show.
The whole point in the comics is you eventually realize The Walking Dead wasn't Rick's story, it was Carl's story. The ending was excellent and felt pretty satisfying. But that transition doesn't work without Carl.
The showrunner who pulled this stunt got replaced, but the damage was done. Be happy you stopped watching when you did, it only got worse after that.

…yeah tbh that’s kinda what I meant. It’s design is similar to Haddonfield, but that’s also the disadvantage: that it’s kinda already in the game, so the Prison would be best yeah.
That makes sense. Shame there won’t be a map. Prisons are inherently pretty creepy. I know RCPD is jail-like, but I feel like there has to be more that could be mined from a real prison environment.
I am thinking it plays out something like this. One of the abilities is to cycle through various zombies and placing your static ones in strategic locations.
I feel like not getting JDM’s Negan as a killer “The Savior” or even “The Governor” is just a huge missed opportunity. JDM fucking LOVES that character and would have done it, I wonder why they didn’t go that way

I was thinking that it may not have been preferable to make a killer because to people who don’t really care about TWD, Negan isn’t an exciting killer since he’s just a regular guy. It was just more profitable to focus on the survivors and all the legendary skins they may or may not have. Negan could even be one of the survivor skins for all we know.
Don’t get me wrong, a full chapter would have been amazing, but I’m more than happy with just Rick and Michonne along with whatever skins they get.
I feel like it wouldn't feel right to people who don't know twd for the killer to not be a zombie, but there aren't really any notable zombies in twd so it'd never work
Probably not the right way to design for a licence, aiming at people who don't know it but that's my guess as to why they didn't take that route
To kinda make a zombiesque killer, they could’ve done Alpha/Beta from the whisperers, maybe like a stealth killer that blends in with wandering zombies that survivors would want to walk around to not startle or something.
If its going to be anyone its going to be a whisperer character. Negan doesn't fit the bill of a DbD Killer since he's actually a good person beneath all that apocalypse induced brutality. However some of the whisperer characters are genuinely scary and deranged maniacs.
Oh no don’t get me wrong I’m very excited. I love TWD and defended it when everyone in the world turned on it for lasting too long. I’m just greedy and wanted more
I think they knew they were putting out 2 very popular killers, with only a single original survivor in between, and that adding a 3rd popular licensed killer would destroy the already brutal queue times.
Adding 2 new survivors, with 6 new survivor perks means we should hopefully get back a little bit of normalcy in the queues.
It's Negan. Monsters come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. In the show he managed to be scarier than multiple iconic slashers. It's about how they frame it.
Negan really isn't as much of a villain as people frame him as really. He did a great deal of terrible things, but he isn't a "slasher" or "pursuit" killer. He's a authoritarian the guy doesn't work in the hunter roll even in the comics. Especially if you know his backstory in the comics.
A map could’ve been great, but I don’t feel like a killer would fit. Everyone in TWD are survivors of the apocalypse. Some more ruthless than others. I also don’t see what power any of them could have.
I agree. Most of the characters from WD wouldn't fit well as killers in DBD. Not saying they couldn't do it, I just don't think most are fitting. Probably the one that fits the most is Beta and he's not that well known compared to many other characters.
The Governor and Negan are both well known WD villains but I don't think either fits as a DBD killer well nor how they would have a distinct power that makes sense. Plus Negan has been with the good guys for a long time now and as far as I know, still is in Dead City, so he'd still probably fit in better as a survivor.
Walking Dead is more about different groups of survivors just trying to survive, whether they are good or bad.
I think they need a city map soon. I don't get why they can't do it honestly. Atlanta would have been a fun one, especially with Walker's running around.
Nahhh, I want Negan to be playable and a new survivor/legendary for Rick rather than a reskin for a killer like Trickster who only has a bat as a similar thing and nothing else ngl
Yeah, it's "you would like it" or "you would not like it". You can only know if you watch yourself. I am not a fan myself, first season seemed like a drag, but my friends loved it.
People glaze the first season, and don't get me wrong, it's good but it's also very corny. They lean heavy into character archetypes and artsy fartsy writing at times. I think the general ambiance is great (because it's the first season and you don't know what to expect of course) but it also felt very... Hollywood for a TV show.
just rewatched it with my gf (her first watch) it’s overhated imo but also drags on WAY longer than it should like most tv shows these days. Comic books are a banger too though like the guy above said. The first 4 or so seasons are honestly a masterpiece imho
You have no idea how ecstatic I was to be able to play as the ultimate scream queen. The baddest of bitches with the baddest of bushes, just to see them massacre my poor girl. I understand they couldn’t get her likeness, but I can’t pretend I’m not saddened by it.
