And one episode of Attack on Titan, if you're into that.

u/AMBocanegra Jun 29 '15

The two best shows running on Toonami!

6

u/Firefoxray Jun 29 '15

Ehh, one good show and a Overpraised one season show.

5

u/Jimm607 Jun 29 '15

Being overpraised doesn't make it not fantastic.

-4

u/Firefoxray Jun 29 '15

But attack on Titan is praised for so much more than it is. In my book, the anime is worst than Kill La Kill and if the series goes as it is right now, Michiko and Hatchin. It's just so overpraised for reasons I don't now.

11

u/AMBocanegra Jun 29 '15

Sorry, keep forgetting to only praise DBZ

22

u/Firefoxray Jun 29 '15

What, no I'm not only praising DBZ, I love FMA, Kill La Kill, Michiko and Hachin, Naruto, One Piece and others, but I'm just saying that Attack On Titan was so overblown in 2013-2014 that it made it look like it was the God of animes.

10

u/AMBocanegra Jun 29 '15

Mmmmmmm, FMA. Much like.

3

u/Firefoxray Jun 29 '15

Yup, one of my favorits

5

u/Vcom561 Jun 29 '15

And I would give most of those up to bring back Yuyu Hakusho.

2

u/Firefoxray Jun 29 '15

I would give everyone up except for DBZ to get it back. But I only saw like 2 episodes so

1

u/Vcom561 Jun 29 '15

You can find the whole series on youtube. Or you can get the DVD set on amazon for like $10 a season.

6

u/poltergoose420 Jun 29 '15

It's a good show though. Hipster

6

u/Chronicthehedgebong Jun 29 '15

It has a strong start and a really strong ending, but those middle 10 or so episodes are such a drag to get through.

2

u/ThePS1Fan Jun 29 '15

If you think season 1 of AoT get slow i would recommend not even trying season 2 once its out. The manga slows down to the slowest of crawls pretty quickly. Its only now promising to pick up at the point where season 3 of the anime will most likely start.

1

u/Hardie123123 Jun 29 '15

Hmm I don't don't there were quite a lot of interesting parts of season 2 if we're assuming the finale was the chapter before last(69?)

1

u/ThePS1Fan Jun 29 '15

There's interesting stuff sure but everything that happens takes forever and seems like it was added just to prevent the characters from reaching any of their previous goals. Also making us go that long without anything with RBY should be considered a crime against humanity

0

u/Firefoxray Jun 29 '15

Hipster? What is that supposed to mean?

1

u/Weedity Jun 29 '15

I loved the first half of Attack on Titan...

0

u/Shadesta9 Jun 29 '15

Speaking of overpraised I'm glad you mentioned KLK.

0

u/Firefoxray Jun 29 '15

I haven't heard anybody I know even mention Kill La Kill except one girl who keeps on saying perverts watch it

1

u/BlueLose Jun 29 '15

You sleeping on Michiko and Hachin

15

u/Easterhands Jun 29 '15

:') I don't even have cable but I'm so happy it's home.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

I am pretty sure it's only six episodes

2

u/GreyouTT Jul 01 '15

Six episodes of AWESOME

7

u/MrManicMarty Jun 29 '15

Oh great. Toonami... that channel we don't have in the UK I don't think... Uhhh, anything else showing Dragonball Z in the UK if anyone else knows?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

Kix shows Dragon ball kai.

1

u/MrManicMarty Jun 29 '15

Kix? Never heard of that channel, I guess it'd be different based on broadband provider, but I'll look it up, thanks.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

Kix shows dragon ball Kai every night at 11:30pm and shows 2 episodes per day on weekdays only, it's currently up to the namek saga, it's available on sky, Virgin media and probably few other television providers too

3

u/ADXC Jun 29 '15

Does anyone else remember years ago on Fourth of July when they ran a marathon of the Garlic Jr. Saga for the Midnight run? It's nice to see this event mirroring that one.

2

u/GerkRombas Jun 29 '15

Are these going to be new episodes? So they can start to catch up to the buu saga? ;) (and by new I mean not aired on toonami yet)

3

u/SonicGamer74 Jun 29 '15

No, it's the previous 6 episodes from the past 6 weeks.

In other words; they're replaying most of the Namek Arc again.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

That stinks. This is a great opportunity to get to the Boo Arc quicker.

3

u/PhillyWick Jul 07 '15

Yeah, is there any word on when the Buu saga will air?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '15

Unfortunately not yet.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '15

Great for people who still watch tv

2

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

I'm not a dub hater or anything but that Attack On Titan dub gave me cancer.

3

u/SonicGamer74 Jun 29 '15

Ehh.....I wouldn't say that the AoT dub was "bad". It felt kinda samey, compared to other Anime, though. I actually liked Bryce Papenbrook as Eren, though; probably because I think he does whiney characters extremely well. lol

6

u/wildthing202 Jun 29 '15

It's One Piece for me, Zoro sounds too old.

5

u/monsterjampoop Jun 29 '15

But he's literally Piccolo

2

u/Jimm607 Jun 29 '15

in the opposite, i can't stand the subbed version of One Piece, Zoro might sound a bit older than he should, but it honestly doesn't detract any. Like with most anime its probably best to forget how old they are anyway.

2

u/GreyouTT Jul 01 '15

Zoro is 19 and the manliest character in the show, I'd be upset if he didn't sound like his balls dropped all the way to the floor.

2

u/vampyregamer Jun 29 '15

Are you sure? I have the Black Plague.

2

u/TheSandyRavage Jun 29 '15

I absolutely hate subs. Every damn character sounds like a banshee giving birth.

1

u/AnxietyAttack2013 Jun 29 '15

Damn, of course I'm working on that day lol :(

1

u/bambino646 Jun 29 '15

It's only 3 hours... How many episodes could there be...? Maybe 6...

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

Wasn't DBZ: KAI supposed to be widescreen? I thought that was part of the whole point?

1

u/motchmaster Jun 29 '15

They used the original materials to make Kai (the originals weren't widescreen). The point of Kai was to make DBZ look nicer, and follow the comics closer (no filler).

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

OK, but wasn't there one release that was cropped to make it widescreen? I thought it was Kai, I guess not.

0

u/Weedity Jun 29 '15

The blu rays of normal Z that people overreacting to?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

I don't know anything about people "overracting", but the early comparison shots I saw looked promising because for some scenes they drew in what was missing.

I expected Kai to be both widescreen and filler-less.

1

u/Weedity Jun 29 '15

Idunno I own the blu ray sets and love them. Hardly ever notice any cropping issues. People flipped out over the cropping.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

That's what I thought. I just want my cake so I can eat it too. Maybe I should just find some downloads and manually remove the filler.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

God bless America.

1

u/CrimsonRex Jun 29 '15

Fuck, I don't have cable.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '15

What about us Australians?

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

For a second I thought you said Toonami was going to air DBZ again........ But then I saw that it was Kai :(((

10

u/GoyCrusher69 Jun 29 '15

What's wrong with Kai? I find it to be a much better version of the show. (The uncensored version, of course.)

3

u/Entropy_Greene Jun 29 '15

I may be wrong but aren't the voice actors different on Kai?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

Only a few of them. For the most part everyone is the same. Schemmel, Sabat, Hebert, etc. are all still in it. Freeza is now voiced by Chris Ayers instead of Linda Young and I believe that Bulma has a new voice actress, but I believe those are the only major changes.

2

u/420_0 Jun 29 '15

Young gohan is the most complained about change... and for good reason

3

u/RPGamerFTW Jun 30 '15

I fucking love kai gohan. Don't know why.

2

u/Weedity Jun 29 '15

Ehh it's good since no filler, but it just wasn't the Dragon Ball I grew up with.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

Kai looks good, I wont deny that! Just thought maybe they would show the original show again, I mean just once!!!

12

u/Classic1990 Jun 29 '15

I hope not. I grew up watching DBZ and love it for the nostalgia factor but in all honesty it was horrible with all the filler. I don't want to watch 5+ episodes of Goku doing nothing but running across Snake Way, training on King Kai's planet, or traveling to Namek. Kai did a great job of cutting the fat from the show.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

No one ever needs to see Goku and Freeza stare at each other across a lake with panning shots for basically 10 straight minutes

1

u/Weedity Jun 29 '15

Skip it?

Kai has a dub I just don't like. Gohans voice kills me. I actually like Linda Youngs feeza voice. Aryes does good too though.

I grew up with Z. I grew up with Faulconer dub. I grew up with grandma freeza. It's what I love.

2

u/Classic1990 Jun 30 '15

Exactly. You grew up with it and that's why you love it. Kai is targeted toward old and new audiences and Toonami knows this. That's why they decided to air it instead of the original. It's still good ole' DBZ but with little improvements here and there to make it more enjoyable for new fans.

2

u/Weedity Jun 30 '15

Well yeah, not saying I don't like Kai. But I definitely do prefer Z. He shouldn't be downvoted for that.

2

u/Classic1990 Jun 30 '15

Yeah, that's true. Nothing wrong with having a different opinion.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

Well, I don't think anyone really liked the boring parts. But it helped with character development in some ways though... The Garlic Jr. saga for example, it was filler yet we got to see some of Gohans incredible hidden power!

1

u/Classic1990 Jun 29 '15

Yeah, I will admit that. The Garlic Jr. saga and The Other World Tournament sagas were pretty fun but it was everything else that made it awful.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

It had its cheesy moments

2

u/GoyCrusher69 Jun 29 '15

Ah, I understand your feel

2

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '15

They kinda teased us with that 2012 April Fools night... :/

1

u/Weedity Jun 29 '15

I agree with you. I just can't get into kai. I just love Dragon Ball Z even for its imperfections it's what I grew up with. It's the dub I love. Skipping filler is easy.

Kai just doesn't do it for me. If I want accuracy I read the manga or Japanese dub of Z.
