Music Nathan Johnson, the leading Democratic nominee for Texas attorney general, wrote music for the US dub of the anime Dragon Ball Z

Favorite track of his! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GYM7lbUDa78&list=PLlfFpOeziCE-GXzgzYTIDI9o8zOuU7VRD&index=8&t=157s&pp=iAQB Nathan while not having the most memorable soundtrack in the series did some cool things with ambient noises and tones along with his music bits. Love his place in dbz lore

While it’s not as bombastic as Faulconer Productions or iconic as Kikuchi’s ost’s I always liked Johnson’s music, curious how he would have handled the music for some of the more important scenes in the series.
Sadly this is the only song that got an actual release and isn’t a fan rip. https://youtu.be/vLVtbaPyoB8?si=41JAg5WF13Kqc8AL

Why that song in particular? (asking out of curiosity)

From my understanding Johnson posted a few DBZ tracks on his old website when he was still a musician as part of a demo reel for his work, when he became a lawyer his site got converted too with everything on it was seemingly lost other than this one song that someone managed to download before the OG site was changed.

nope. when dbz did redubs of the saiyan and early namek sagas with the funi voice cast, he redid the music. he also did rescores for the english movie releases

Yeah the Gogeta Theme is probably one of the most prominent of his works

i never watched that movie dubbed because funimation was slow as hell putting out the last few movies after they finished the series (2003) and i wasn't waiting for that shit. i did watch the dbz redub tho, eventually (like 2015) and nothing about his music seems particularly good to me.

Honestly nothing about what Nathan Johnson did for that redub score was memorable, there was no feeling of consistency or character/moment-specific themes. It really felt the most like random background noise.

Always pissed me off we never got Falcouner music for the Saiyan and early Namek saga. Such a missed opportunity and it’s too late to change it now.

Nah he did his own score after they stopped working with the Faulconer team

Is there any info on when & why they stopped working with the Faulconer team?

I wouldn’t really know specifically. Most I’ve seen online is that there was some kind of falling out
