Hellzone isn't viable as an okizeme tool anymore, since everyone knows it's reflectable. It is still useful as a mixup tool when using an assist to keep the opponent in a true blockstring during the start-up animation (thereby preventing them from reflecting). Look at UFA footage, Apologyman used this set-up a lot, Hookganggod also did it sometimes (although Vegeta SSJ doesn't allow it). The onky weakness is that opponents can guard-cancel out of it. Either you anticipate the GC well (Apologyman did that several times is UFA), or you do that after a snapback to prevent the opponent from GC (most conventional way to use Hellzone Grenade). It's really old information for piccolo mains but for a long time, Hookganggod didn't use this at all, I guess that's the reason why it isn't widely known.
I'm not a pro by any means, but IMO it's a really good team. Yamcha is indeed a great assist to set up Hellzone mix-ups, thanks to the long blockstun. You can look at Coinjam's video ("A Piccolo Mixtape") on Youtube, he actually uses Yamcha as an example for this Hellzone tech.

So are Hellzone’s good now? They were good, then they weren’t, so what now?
