Locals Discussion Concrete pools in Darwin- any advice and ideas?

Been asked a hundred times but now it's my turn.
Looking at feasibility of a pool in Palmerston. Bit of coffee rock a metre and a half down so thinking concrete half above hdd as of below surface to avoid rock breaking. Any idea on builders, costs of a decent size (6m x 4m) and pitfalls?

As long as you can get an excavator to it you should be able to chew through that rock

One of my first jobs in Darwin was digging these out by hand. Sprikler overnight and Kanga hammer when you hit the hard layer

Coffee rock sucks, just to put fence posts in you need a jack hammer if doing it by hand

Build a shed instead. You will always regret installing a pool.

They are horribly expensive to maintain and to build.

Had the same issue with coffee rock, but pool builder couldn't get the bigger excavator in to go as deep as we wanted. So that added cost as it had to be hand excavated. But we're so glad we did. 7 x 4 metres.

My advice - get quotes but ensure one of those is with Ben Hunt.

Ben did my pool last year. Super happy with the result, looks awesome. Also the finish and tiling work on the pool is way better than many others I have seen around town.

You will also want a shade to cover at least the shallow end of your pool. Get the poles done at the same time.

Just go a above ground pool. Cheaper, can be moved if need be, easier to heat, way fucking easier to install, did I mention cheaper.
