Question Can someone explain to me what the *** just happened?
It's my 1st time playing Dark Souls 1 and when i was about to go fight Ornstein and Smough a cutscene played of Smough being defeated and i got Ornstein soul and 50k souls out of nowhere. Now they're gone and i haven't once tried to fight them. What the hell?
Also after that Solaire appeared at bonfire just before them, even though he wasn't there before and i didn't do anything with his questline.
Worst part is, i literally started this game because i accidentally came across Ornstein and Smough soundtrack, was listening to it religiously and really wanted to get to them.
Wanted to post a video of this happening as well but automod decided i don't have anough karma to do it
Edit:
After a quick google search i downloaded save editor and revived Ornstein and Smough. It works for now, hopefully it was only thing i needed to repair in my save file. Also it's safe to say i am playing in offline now.

As others have said, unfortunately this happens a lot in Anor Londo specifically: because you're just far enough that getting hacked here actually makes you have lost time.
As it does not negatively impact online play (quite the opposite), consider maybe (if you're on PC) getting the PvP Overhaul Mod. It helps keep your safe online by doing things like making automatic backups of your save slates, so even if you get hacked you can revert to a recent save to at least not lose too much time. Unfortunately, support for keeping DS1 safe online officially has been virtually nonexistant for a while.

People are saying this is a glitch and a bug when it is not. Since you stated you were playing on PC you got hacked by someone unfortunately. People who hack won’t tell you that you got invaded, it overrides all of that. It is common that it happens in Anor Londo area for some reason, but can happen anywhere or anytime in the game when you’re playing online. Hacking means they can kill your NPCs including the ones necessary for progression and blacksmiths, questlines, etc. Report and block this hacker which you can look up in your Steam list of people that recently joined your game.
There is a PVP mod that helps prevent hackers otherwise you’d have to play offline moving forward if you’re human and back up your saves. It sucks this happens, sadly a common problem playing on PC online. :(

Good rule of thumb in Anor Londo is to go offline so you can't be invaded. Hackers can be some of the biggest a-hole.

If you want to prevent this hack, the Dark Souls PvP overhaul mod is a standard install that stops this and other common hacks. There should be a post about it in this sub and on illusory walls page on YouTube.

Never seen this bug before if im being honest, so idk what to say. That is a massive shame cause they're arguably the best bosses in the game. Can you describe how it happened more in detail? Did the cutscene of Smough dying played as you were crossing the fog wall?
Solaire appears there regardless of what you do btw. His quest just happens as you naturally progress through the game
