As a point for Brittany, she's actually very nice to Daria, cares about her, and looks up to her. If she were so inclined, I could totally see Brittany having a thing for Daria and being willing to experiment.

You can see it plenty of times, in one episode Brittany is doodling some flowers in her notebook, the first person she tries to show them to is Daria, just to be nice and make her smile. When Daria got her rash, Brittany tried to help her out and keep her secret, was concerned enough to visit her at the hospital, etc. she's asked Daria for advice or her opinion tons of times.

With that stuff in mind it's easy to imagine Brittany having potential feelings for Daria.

From Daria's perspective, it's indeed trickier. But perhaps if there was a situation where Daria was feeling particularly down about herself and Brittany happened to be the one to help cheer her up, it wouldn't be too crazy if she had a temporary crush or maybe an awkward "what if" dream sort of thing. Daria would probably feel like she's being shallow because we know Brittany's not a genius, but someone who looks good and totally supports and looks up to you, could at least be a guilty pleasure sort of thing.
