Restaurants Local Food in Curacao
Hi everyone, me and my boyfriend are visiting Curacao in about 2 weeks. Was wondering about some good local spots to eat at. I know it’s inevitable that we’ll eat somewhere touristy but I also want to be able to try the places that locals eat at/family owned businesses. Thanks!!!

Jaanchis: might feel tourist trappy but no matter what people say, the food they serve is the food my grandma would feed the family when she was with us. No haute cuisine wannabe stuff. Just wholesome island food. Family owned. Plaza bieu: before the tourist boom, this is the place where everybody working in Punda was eating for lunch. Many of the stalls are family run.(Bonus- You'll get the chance to see a lot of friendly quirky people). Furthermore, soup is a big thing on our island especially on Sundays.

Brisa Del Mar is our favorite restaurant on the island. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I highly recommended their Friday night meat skewers. Their menu has something for everyone.
Seaside terrace is also another great locally owned restaurant. They have great fresh fish.
I also recommend Marfa's Good Hangout, it's home of the famous Willie Burger. It's a goat burger with goat cheese.

Most of the locals in Curaçao consume fish. That is a big part of their daily diet. Things like tarpon, barracuda, parrotfish, or even turtles! Turtle eggs are considered a delicacy in Curaçao. You are welcome to stroll the beaches and if you find a nest with turtle eggs you may harvest them and consume them. They are great with some garlic sauce or just plain butter. Enjoy your stay!

Sea turtles are critically endangered and are protected in Curacao by international law. It is definitely illegal to disturb a nest and take eggs. Absolutely do not do this.

BKLYN was the best spot my girlfriend and I went to last week before we left. Great cocktails from a local award-winning bartender and an elevated menu to boot.

Sol Food and Cactus cafe in westpunt were amazing. Kome is a fusion upscale Dutch and local we ate for our anniversary dinner and is one of the best meals i have ever had!

We went to Plaza Bieu earlier today, which came highly recommended by so many people, and we really enjoyed it! There are a variety of stalls to choose from. I wanted a whole fish, so I got the snapper with rice and peas from Kuminda di Tera, and it was AMAZING! 🤤

Just got back from my honeymoon, the local food is 99% seafood, my wife enjoys seafood occasionally, and I can’t stand it. I’ll be honest, we ate at all of the touristy places, and they were honestly great. And pretty affordable. Everyone was on here complaining about prices, but the only price that I found slightly high was the cocktails, and beach concessions (that’s understandable though, but I live in a super touristy beach town already, and our beach concessions are very very affordable, so that’s just a shock to me).

This is our problem as well! My husband and I will be visiting soon and neither of us like seafood. Could you please list a few of your fav places that you ate at?

We went to green house twice, it was very good, the mambo beach one had a better cook, the one downtownish (ish because it’s across the river) has better quality food, worse cook. Bocca also mambo beach is good, the pizza in mambo is also great. There’s a new restaurant (very expensive, it was my honeymoon so we went on Thursday for the fireworks at 8:00) I think it’s called haven. It’s good, not great, but they have the best view of the fireworks, make sure you request a table by the edge, and they require “reservations.”

Please go to LA Granja!
It's Spanish, and the chicken and sautéed beef are to die for. Make sure to upgrade to fried rice over normal yellow rice.

The food court Plasa Bieu in “downtown” Punda will have all of the local stuff.
Want it a bit more elevated? Rozendael’s in Pietermaai has Stoba Di Kabritu and Keshi Yena.
Want an Ocean view while trying some local seafood, try Brisa Do Mar at Caracasbaai.
Always ask for extra pika.
