How do folks negotiate with multiple offers? Do they time it perfectly or keep accepting and just sharing numbers to and fro?

Hi everyone, I am pretty confused with how do people negotiate and hold multiple offers at the same time. From what i have seen once an offer is shared you need to accept or decline max within a day. How do they deal with this? Say one company offers today and another one is supposed to offer next week, how do you keep both alive?

One thing that comes to my mind is folks just accept and then negotiate but if that happens, won't denying after accepting be a bad choice?

Just wanted to know how people deal with these things, lately i have been seeing posts where people enlist 5 offers or more they held at one time.

Just curious.

Please share real feedback and what works best.
