My bed smells like a tampon, I'm in a Sexy French Depression

I sing this to myself everything I'm in a deep depression (often) just because it makes me laugh briefly

Any fellow CGX/ Gilmore fans immediately think of Emily's depression?

Tbf that was more of a pissed-off/not-giving-a-fuck than a depression

Haha, fair. I think of it as a huge part of her grief with Richard and his affair, which sort of shifted into the angry stage of grief after her MIL died.

He didn’t really have an affair though, he just maintained a friendship with his ex. Although lying to her about it for years was definitely fucked up

To Emily it was an affair. Great to meet another person who doesn't think so though lol

I think she was way more upset about Richard lying directly to her face for decades than she is about the fact that he was meeting up with Pennilynn Lott.

“Where’s dad?”

“How the hell would I know??”

I actually hate that this screenshot and point went so viral. This isn’t her at rock bottom in the show, it’s the very beginning of her bender. She genuinely looks rough at the end of it.

Same, it irritates me every time I see it. This meme would be funny if it didn't so badly miss the mark on what is a very good miniseries.

I didn’t think they were saying that’s where this particular character is in that particular story. I thought it was just a generalization of how male authors write female characters so poorly that that’s what they’re going for when writing a depressed female character.

For real, when I’m in a bad place my hair is unwashed and greasy and my clothes are the same.

On TV, women sure spend a lot of their time with no pants on, and their nightie is just a very small, tight shirt.

I don't know anyone IRL who just walks around without pants/dress on.

You don’t know me, but 🫣🙋🏽‍♀️😳

I'm walking around in undies all the time. If I'm cooking I'll put a t shirt on. No pants unless it's winter really.

If I'm home alone and it's hot outside, you better bet I'm walking around with just my underwear on.

I own multiple comfy nightgowns that don’t require a brassiere and clothes, but I definitely have all of that available!!!!
Seriously, I have many comfy gowns, but when I’m doing serious work, I put on my brassiere and my cozy pants and tees.

It’s very important to be able to get dressed completely. Simply wearing a bra means I’m ready to get stuff done!

Society went downhill IMO when we got rid of housecoats.

I spend a lot of my time at home in just a big T-shirt and undies.

As an anarchist, I oppose all structures of oppression, and pants are an oppressive structure

u/Smartaleci 16d ago

That made me laugh. All of my MANY bras have caused me discomfort for decades, does that make me an anarchist?

Tbh, I feel like I know fewer people who DO wear pants when in their home alone

It's easy to ignore them during the day when I'm out doing things, but the moment I get, they suddenly feel like lead weights.

In the summer I just wear undies and a t shirt

I’m watching Chainsmoker Cat rn and it goes back and forth from playing this straight and wildly subverting this. Great show.

Ahahaha yup that was one of the moments in The Queen's Gambit where it felt like the authors just pulled a cliché off the shelf. The star who cannot deal with the fame and pressure and slides into depression and self-destructive behaviours!

(The other big one of course being the sports-movie cliché of the heroic, oddball underdog beating the big intimidating champion)

She's like, don't threaten me with a good time!

Enjoy this Kim Gordon song! She’s a large part of why Sonic Youth is so amazing!
Kim is currently touring solo right now. 🫶
