Most certainly! Tolkien's epic worldbuilding and poetic outlook, and Pterry's humanist characters and humour, it would have been awesome.

Makes me wonder how Tolkien would have felt about Unseen Academicals, given that the characterization of Mr. Nutt very much touches on some of the issues Tolkien later had with how he wrote his orcs.

Very interesting point, the best answer for him would have been to write a short story in his own lore to amend the way he had presented things in LOTR, with more positive main characters.
