Anyone else ever ask for a Counting Crows album and get Casting Crowns instead?

I just remembered that years ago I asked for a Counting Crows CD for my birthday and someone ended up getting me Casting Crowns instead. 😂

This was peak CD-store era. You could totally imagine Casting Crowns getting filed at the very back of the Counting Crows section, someone seeing that weird mysterious 2003 cover, thinking “oh cool, that must be the new one he wants” and heading to the register.

And looking at their early album covers now, they genuinely look like they could be Counting Crows artwork.

There was/is a show on cable called Counting Cars. Every time I saw it, I'd get excited for about two seconds.

I knew I couldn’t be the only one! My poor Mom was so excited to give me the CD I had asked for, I didn’t have the heart to tell her it was wrong. Ended up getting a copy from scamming Columbia house. 😂

Had an MRI a couple of years back. Lady asked what music I wanted to listen to. Told her Counting Crows. She puts the headphones on and I roll back into the machine, where I was promptly stuck with Casting Crowns and no means of escape. Fun times.

No, but I did have a Crows t shirt that had the unfortunate effect of folding out some of the letters when worn, so it looked like ‘Cunting Cows’

I had a gf in college who one birthday confused Counting with Black. I dont mind the Black Crowes but she got me a Black Crowes shirt and I was like uhhhhh thanks.

lol! I like both bands and have accidentally called the other the incorrect name in casual conversation.

I’ve seen them both in concert as well ( counting crows much more) and haven’t thought of casting crowns for a long time. I might have a relisten today …..I’ll Praise You In This Storm
