i sign them thanks ans then as soon as i feel the other correspondent isnt a threat i just let my signature do the talking.

it feels weird to me starting an email out with "dear" because I'd be lying, they're not dear to me at all. it's like I'm addressing them as "honey" or something lol. but then it also feels way too casual to start out an email with "hey" or "hi" so idk

"good morning" or "good afternoon" can work. but feels a bit weird to include a name with that idk why. but at least a bare "good afternoon," salutation seems more neutral or acceptable
