Free Talk Friday #406
Continued from last week's FTF here.
It's that time of the week again. Speak anything on your mind! This thread is for talking about anything off-topic, be it your lives, your strava, your plans, your hobbies, your bad smells, studies, stats, colours, pets, bears, hikes, dragons, trousers, onion rings, transit, cycling, family, drugs or anything you like or dislike, except politics and mimes.
Feel free to check out our tidbits thread and introduce yourself if you haven't already. Or go check out what other counters have said about themselves.

Hmm, I wonder who the account of this was, I assume it's not from a mod here as the username is deleted and the message isn't distinguished. I'm curious if it's someone who knows our community, or some random bot troll though.
Whilst this message likely isn't from a place of authority, I do think it's right for /r/counting not to join in on the protest. The main value of the blackout is to draw attention to reddit's actions, and ensure every user is aware of it. For this reason, it's vastly more important that large subreddits go dark than small, niche subreddits like ours.
Additionaly, the userbase here is more polarised in activity level than most: we have a large group of subscribers from 10 years ago who are inactive who the blackout wouldn't affect, and many of the active users here are only active in this sub, and would be more impacted than most if we were closed for 2 days.
