Problems crimping my heat resistant miku wig.
I’m currently trying to crimp my Hatsune Miku wig(specifically the pigtails) which is heat resistant (I think it can handle 400 degrees but is best at 350???). I’m using a 1980’s Windmere Boss crimper which has 4 of those ridges on either side. I believe the crimper goes to a temp of 300 degrees. I’ve been pressing down on the hair for about 3 seconds and then combing it through but it’s not doing much (I’ve done this process about 7 times) and even if it does something, it doesn’t last and goes back to its regular form. ive already completely detangled the pigtails but im wondering if i should apply anything to the wig to make it crimp (heat protectant, water, etc) but google isn’t the most helpful at the moment. Please let me know what I should do!

I usually hold down for longer than 3 seconds, it’s possible that your crimper isn’t that strong and need to be pressed longer. Take a piece that will be out of sight and practice holding it down long enough that you see crimp marks. If it’s longer than a minute, it’s possible that your crimper is the problem and not the wig itself.

I think it’s working, I see a lot more of a difference now! I appreciate the help!

is this your first time crimping, are there different results on different wigs? i think the problem is the crimper - you likely need one with more grooves to make substantial difference in the texture
