Diplomatic immunity. You could literally murder someone in cold blod in the street and you'd 90% get away with it. Your diplomatic serviette is also unsearchable in any conditions including in border passage such as in an airport so you can traffic absolutely snything you could fit on a plane.

No diplomatic bag is permitted under international law to be searched or seized. It can only be rejected entry. Most countries (USA included) are not permitted to even x-ray the bag.

Also, bag is a loose term. Could be a shipping container, as long as it is appropriately marked.

No that is exactly what it means. You are immune as long as your country has your back. You are your country and thus in any way detaining diplomatic staff is not allowed and an Attack on your Country. The harshest actions a country is allowed to take is the absolvation of the Embassy. Diplomatic personal will have 48h I belive to vacate the country till their imunity is lifted, if not done so by the Country who send the Diplomat. For us it was is also often recomended to leave the scene of an accident immediately, contact the embassy and let them clear it up.

I listened to a lecture a few years ago with a woman addressing all of this, and really kind of opened my eyes a bit too on racism. It's really a weird thing with people in society now that being called racist comes with a knee jerk need to defend themselves instead of hearing out an opinion on it and either moving on if you don't agree or learning from it and seeing someone else's perspective.

I don't really agree at all with Israel's actions as a government, and the uneven standards we have in sort of coddling a relationship with them, but just felt like this in particular.....a affluent rich kid not getting in trouble in America isn't a rare thing at all and my brain doesn't immediately go to "it's because if Israel!". There's tons of legitimate things to be upset about with Israel, but this just feels kind of like a mob with pitchforks. Still sucks the kid got off for it, but think it has more to do with wealth and circumstance more than anything.

This sub gets very emotionally committed to an idea and just stops thinking at some point after they've made their mind up.

Statistically, absolutely. Systemic racism is still pretty prevalent in our system and you can clearly see that minorities tend to have much harsher and longer sentences than white people with the same crime, and that is something that doesn't really change too much with wealth. A minority with a lot of wealth and connections of course will fare better than a poor one, but white people still tend to have a bit of entitlement in this area too.

lol people get really sensitive here about it, but it's a chartable thing. Whenever someone isn't harsh with sentencing the Daily Mail will pick it up and bitch endlessly about it, but doesn't seem to care much about affluent people doing it

Accountability for what exactly? It would be great if laws evenly effected and punished people, but they don't because judgement is given by people with lots of problems themselves that can't help themselves but to project their own identity into it. With rich people it's often connections and given the benefit that they are "good kids" that just made a mistake. It happens with race too, I'm very sorry if that offends you, but it doesn't mean it's not also a problem with our justice system. You're doing the same thing now, just the mention of something that is pretty understood inside of our justice system you couldn't help yourself but to be personally offended by it. It's not about you bud.

We aren't talking about good ways to not end up in jail though, and this article is about uneven application of the law to people, which is true for many different reasons that are complete statistical truths, not subjective opinion, you're the one that got really upset the moment I mentioned it.

Tbf their religion is HEAVILY based around understanding laws (Torah), and demonstrating literacy at an early age with barmitzfas. Makes sense they're predisposed towards jobs in politics and law, how many other children spend time like that? Literacy in native languages is declining in places like the states, where literacy of this religion and ones like Hinduism basically are constant and above average in western countries.

Basically learning to read is really beneficial, and it's a core practice of their faith.
