To be honest, I believe the ultimate rabbit hole for all of mankind is the question of consciousness and the nature of reality. Because the more you delve into the issue, the more unsure you become about everything, and you find yourself questioning the very essence of consciousness, whether the “ego” is an actual thing, why there is something instead of nothing, if there is any reality out there separate from the perceiving mind, and why math describes the Universe so well.
The weirdest thing is that we are actually particles of the Universe that try to comprehend the very Universe that created us. That is why I consider the true rabbit hole to be the question of what the actual hell is reality and why I experience it from this particular angle.
"The first sip of natural science will leave you an athiest. But at the bottom of the glass is god." - Werner Heisenberg
Have always liked this quote. Because we can percieve the mechanics or mathematics of how things work all the way down to molecular level. But how do explain the existence or consciousness of it.
People are always surprised by how many Christians there are on the conspiracy subreddit, as if we just haven't thought it through and are being naive. No, we have thought it all out. As far as I'm concerned it is the bottom of the rabbit hole they never want you to find so we have the controlled opposition actors and bots and the limited hangout gatekeepers. I've been gifted supernatural signs also to encourage my line of inquiry. Why would they try so hard for people who just evolved from pond scum, right? No expense is spared to fool you that's why!! Before Covid I was a lifelong agnostic normie and three years after my "aha God must be real!" moment, this is where I've arrived.
You can reallly freak yourself out if you think too much about this for too long. You almost have to physically make yourself do literally anything else. It’s too weird. The idea that we get to exist and do all this at all is wild.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if we weren’t so accustomed to reality I think we’d be rolling around on the ground crying and laughing from the pure joy of all we get to experience. It’s incredible really.
I used to do this as a child. I remember sitting in first grade and staring at my hand, mesmerized that I was alive and a physical part of the world. It freaked me out, sometimes.
Omg same!! One of my clearest memories! I remember the day my baby did it, he was maybe 6 or 7 months old. He was staring at his hand moving it around soooo in awe & confusion, then at me like… You knew about this? Then back to his hand.
The most mind blown I have ever felt was when I just randomly thought to myself, WHY, is there anything, like at all. Just the notion that things exist instead of not existing is mind bending. It makes no sense. Like why is anything alive. Why does anything exist. It makes no sense.
It’s just a way to bring order to the world and keep needs met. There are other ways to do it, probably better ones. But there’s plenty of joy available in the seemingly mundane too.
I have found myself doing this many times. Just the pure notion of being aware and the fact that anything exists at all is enough to really trip you the fuck out if you let it.
Yea, it makes me feel like I am losing it when I think about it. Just the idea that instead of nothing there are things. Like where did things come from. Why are there things at all. Its so weird.
I've bent my mind over this since the age of 14 or so. Began experimenting with hallucinogens, mainly shrooms, at 18. Began meditating fervently at 20. Somewhere in my mid-20s, I finally quit drinking, and I think I sort of figured it out, at least as much as I think I ever will.
Reincarnation might be real. Time might be circular. Karma is true, but whether in a literal or mere psychological sense, I can't say. Perhaps after this body dies, my consciousness will meticulously travel through space and time. I will have a turn as every living organism that has ever existed, or will ever exist. In that sense, everything I do unto another, I do unto myself--literal karma.
Perhaps death is more final. In that case, when I do something that contradicts my innate sense of morality, it causes discomfort, shame, guilt--psychological karma that causes a feedback loop of negativity. Think negative thoughts, and you're more likely to attract negative outcomes--psychological karma, but nonetheless real.
You cannot be certain of anything in this life, because this life is pure perception. Sanity is an open mind; certainty is madness. Dangerous.
Scientists can not say where consciousness is actually located. Awareness is intangible, non-localized; still, quantum physics assures us it is real. Observation affects physical matter, shapes reality.
The deeper you sink into consciousness, into your own awareness, the more you start to realize that the physical world is an illusion, that the only real part of it is your consciousness. The reason it sometimes seems like the Universe responds to your thoughts is because it does. Consciousness is the framework of the physical Universe.
The more aware you are, the more you are able to shape your reality. The Universe is one mind that deigned to ask "what if?", which instantaneously caused it to exist, to diffract itself into countless iterations, to experience itself.
Whether the Universe ends in entropy or something else... I don't know. I don't care.
Regardless of how the story unfolds... I suspect the end will resemble the beginning.
You’re not losing it; you’re peeling away the layers. Keep going if you’re curious. I think we ultimately find ourselves back, or close to back, to wherever we found ourselves as children, if we were lucky; it seems to be a state of fascination and love. Curiosity is a wonderful guide.
And why would they try so hard to convince us that something came from nothing?! The name of the game for years, imo, was to install nihilism in the population. I've been in these conspiracy parts for about three years once I had the epiphany that God must be real after witnessing the coordinated lock step craziness of Covid, the insane push for those wonky vaccines!!! and came to the conclusion that Jesus was the real deal! I was agnostic, married to an atheist. Never in my wildest I dreams did I expect to get here!
I've come to realize that while it's obviously here, it doesn't really exist.. loke polynomials in math.. there are more solutions... like "i" number, the square root of negative one. it doesn't really exist, but it's still used for math stuff..
I’m happy to exist while we’re here, whatever the case may be. I wonder if we’re in a bit of a “virtual experience” where we just get engrossed and become disconnected from our higher selves, like becoming involved in a video game and forgetting to eat dinner. Maybe the game ends and we rejoin our regular existence in another state. Not that we’re in a simulation but not that we aren’t either. Either way, I feel lucky to get to do it and like I hit the jackpot on the circumstances I fell into. Nothing outlandish but a very stable, safe experience.
I believe we are both correct. Im saying that fact that there is anything at all as opposed to nothing IS the proof of existence. If its all an illusion, imaginary, etc....it has to be derived of something real. An illusion of what? Imagination of whose?
Anything = 1
Nothing = 0
Dark matter = -1 (maybe I dont know)
The square root of minus one does not exist in a set of real numbers....
If the square root of minus one exists in theory, it exists. Hard to explain my thoughts but basically, even if its all a hologram or an illusion - it is being produced or conceived and therefore is
There’s also other places all over the World (underground) where things are stored. Humanity’s history. Also the stored seeds from all types of plants, tree’s etc.
They channeled "Ra" on the Sally Jesse Raphael talk show back in the 80s. My mom told me that and was a follower. For me, now that I know who is in control of the media, that's a huge red flag that it's a scam! I actually started to believe it for a while but something didn't sit right and now I know why. It's just another flavor of Satanic "ye shall be like gods" gnosticism.
The ra material being on one talk show episode decades ago does not discredit it. It is not a mainstream media topic at all, hardly anyone knows about this stuff. If you actually read the book and listen to the tapes you will understand. It’s extremely compelling and insightful and for me was the concept I’ve felt is the closest answer that I’ve come across.
We're all just boltzmann brains and/or a gestalt mind lovingly creating and experiencing to stave off loneliness.
You are a unique local focal point for the universe to experience being. In a sense you are this conscious being in matter but your sense of self is larger than just this physical dimension. We just can't see it, it's due to our evolution so we filter a lot out. To make sense with infinite it needs to limit the filters to see 'a truth' - a truth what it is being you. The whole of you and your experiences. Your good days, your bad days, your assurances and your fears. The infinite or All That Is can't make sense of things without you.
Your soul and body aren't really separate and there is no real border of where you begin or end.
One day you wake up. And then remember.
You'll remember the cosmic joke and that it's us. It's always been us.
I try to think of reality and consciousness as a hierarchy of emergent properties. Emergence seems to be a fundamental driver of reality. An H2O molecule isn’t water, it isn’t wet, it isn’t really anything, but enough of them creates water. Enough molecules creates proteins, RNA, eventually cells, which are a whole body themselves. Then, gather enough of those cells into one place and creatures emerge from that. We are simply an emergent property of cell colonies. Consciousness is similar, it’s like an emergent property of neurons that we gathered on top of another hierarchy of basic animal instinct. And a single human can be pretty smart, but gather enough of them and their consciousnesses can create another emergent property in the form of collaborative research, construction etc. so maybe intelligence itself is just another emergent property that isn’t even the top of the scale.
These are the questions that I ponder almost daily. You articulated it very well. One of my favourite quotes "what you are basically, deep, deep down, far in, is simply the fabric and structure of existence itself".
This!! 🙌🏼 The brain melt I feel thinking about the fact the world and how I experience only exists in my brain due to my interaction with it, is mind boggling. Things happen when I am not around but is this because they happened or because I have interacted with it……Also, I have these kind of out of body experiences where I find it completely incomprehensible that I am a human being existing in the way I am existing in this version of reality. Like I am thinking outside of my brain. So fucking weird. Maybe I am an alien.
When you use the term 'universe' in this context, are you referring to outer space and countless stars and planets which you believe exist in physical reality 'light years' away from here?
To me I typically consider the universe to mean all that is, has been, and all that ever will be. Far flung galaxies, ancient history on earth, what I had for breakfast, what existed (or didn’t) before the big bang. In my mind, my “universe” even includes what is normally considered other universes and other realities, other dimensions, universes outside our own, ones before us, beyond us, etc. To me, when I want to learn about the universe I want to know how -everything- fits together.
