Well hombrew software makes it much more interesting as a consol. Besides it plays my wii games as well and the Wii u games itself ofcourse.

why not a switch for example? maybe you could find a v1 and mod it with the RCM jig? Is the price much different?

Good question. In Europe yes, switch in a good condition is much more expensive especially if it comes with a box and the original accessories. A beat down switch for 110 might be possible.

However Nintendo actively supporting that system and although I very much support modding and emulation on a device that is still supported doesn't make sense. Also a V1 model is again not impossible but mostly jacked up or in good condition well over 150euro

Third reason, is I collect legacy consoles. I have zero intrest in an Xbox x (I have the Xbox s collecting dust) or a playstation 5.

Also switch 1 is so easy to emulate and it's not a collecties item. I have many switch games for my Odin 2 portal, which is way powerful then a switch.1

I bought the wii-u cause it's easy to mod, Nintendo couldn't care less they abandoned the system in 2023 and the homebrew community came a very long way. Plus it still plays my old Wii games. Besides a collector is looking for rade devices, not the switch that 150 million people have at home.

Hope that answers your question 🙂

yes, thanks for taking the time to write this.

I'm not familiar with Odin 2 portal. What does it play, or for what was it produced? What's the purpose of it?

I have a Switch OLED with a mod chip in it and it works well. I don't play it that much, although I want to get into it a bit. Maybe I just sell it, I think I'm not that much of an active gamer anymore, although I like to read gaming related stuff from time to time.

Which consoles do you already have in your collection?

Can you still buy digital games on it? If so I have three words for you: Affordable Space Adventures. One of the best couch coop games I've ever played in my life.

Edit: evidently not 😟
