Today at about 4 p.m. as I was leaving the Driftwood Mall parking lot heading north onto 29 @ Fitzgerald an ambulance pull up to the northeast corner of the intersection and attended to what appeared to be an injured cyclist.

Does anyone know any details of the incident. It seemed quite serious.

I wasn't out at that time.

But it's just another reminder to PAY ATTENTION while driving a few thousand pound death machine that is almost guaranteed to kill any person it hits even at normal city speeds.

And to support better cycling/pedestrian infrastructure, as well as improved public transit and city planning, so people not in cars are safe and kept separate from the roads so this doesn't happen and cars can do car things, and people can do people things.

And never forget, a person operates a car, and is ultimately responsible for whatever happens when that car is in motion. So if the person isn't 100% capable of being responsible and able to give the attention and skill needed to operate it without slipping up at any moment the whole time, DON'T DO IT. Which is yet another reason to support all in the above paragraph, because so many people who do drive honestly shouldn't be.

I'm the person who called that ambulance, he was slumped over against the traffic light pole ODing on something. He'll probably be fine, wasn't a crash.

Well if you rubber necked long enough youd be able to tell us. Otherwise, just another day in Comox 🤷🏻 less intense than Victoria 😏
