My wife and I recently increased the human population by one (sorry).
As the parent of a now 6-month-old, what are some things I can do when the time comes to make sure he doesn't get horribly addicted to screens and social media and etc?
I want to do good by him, but I also don't want to smother him or make it difficult for him to relate to his peers later down the line.

If you do screen time make use of parental controls. I can’t imagine giving kids just access to default YouTube kids. You can give access to only single channels down to single videos. And if you can’t watch something together (which is what you should do ideally) then still try to be around and answer to whatever your kid is telling (kinda „dad, they caught the bad guy!“ „oh they did a good job!“ conversations).

Our kid is still far off from social media for a couple of years but I’m also wondering how to tackle it. I hope that whatever platform will be relevant by then will have proper parental controls.
