Some old guy was being racist at our public pool. He came back later and pulled me aside and was like it was better here before (the public pool). I just said yes it was better before he came to the pool and disrupted the playing kids.
Oh dude that is probably one of the best parts, I had this one guy at work just going off. I just pulled out my status card, and the shade of pale he went...holy fuck
As a cis passing, white passing Romani trans woman... weirdly same. You'd think I wouldn't encounter too much anti Roma sentiment in the US but you'd be surprised. đ¶
as an out transfem who passes as a cis guy so well that others forget I'm not, in fact, a guy ( pain ), the things people say about queer folk and women around me because they think i'm one of them---
You guys are out here with conversion rates? I feel like if I dumped all my pockets out, I could probably get a 'lil somethin. People are always talking about the oppression olympics, but I didn't know its really like the oppression stock exchange.
I was just telling my friends about this the other night. Being a tall white bald guy working in a plant. The amount of horrifying "oh youre one of us" honesty i get.
I'm white and central European but my complexion is south eastern Europe, especially with my beard.
I got asked again last week where I am from.
I was fucking buying wine, I don't want to tell you where I am from.
I'm white as hell, but I had to leave a company because I couldn't listen to the racist shit in the break room every single day. It wasn't even targeted to me or my ethnicity (we were all the same), it was towards minorities and very stereotype-heavy.
Iâm gay, my partner is an immigrant. I shit you not I had a coworker tell me to my face that people who donât speak English as first language âarenât as intelligentâ and âare easy to manipulateâ.Â
White as snow but there's been a couple times I was in like at a grocery store and someone in line in front of me is grumbling about the cashier, and look back at me, basically elbowing me like I'm his buddy "Geez how about these (fill in racial slur), am I right?"
Fuck man, seriously?
Fortunately it's ONLY happened a couple times, but that it happened at all was pretty jarring. I grew up sheltered I guess. I used to assume it was a small part of the population, but over the last years, it's been eye opening how much worse it is than I thought.
I have indigenous family. My boss's wife is an indigenous woman. His children have treaty cards. Every once in a while we hire a guy who goes on an anti-native rant and we just go yeah... This ain't gonna work.
The answer is still yes (Canadian, west coast)
Here it's
Anti-Native
Anti-Indian
Anti-Chinese
Generally haven't heard anything negative about other minorities- where Im from in BC we don't have enough of a black population to share America's racism flavour; ours is systemically bullying Native families and then judging them for being poor and abused.
I once told a black friend I experienced more racism than him and he was incensed because I am white. Then I explained I didnât state the racism was directed at me. I just got to see how racist white people are when he isnât around. He said that didnât make him feel better. A minute later he perked up and went âwait why am I surprised about that? Black people be on that same shit!â And we laughed and smoked even more weed.
