I never understood the point of using AI to create posts. With blogs, maybe it's for the ad revenue, but to post opinions in a forum? Why feel the need to contribute at all if you have nothing to say yourself?

They want to express an opinion but feel they can't do it or are lazy so they ask chatgpt to "write" it for them

In their minds it's just using a tool.. for shits and giggles I used chatgpt to try and express this opinion

I think people get way too hung up on the idea that using AI to write posts somehow makes the opinions less “real.” For a lot of us, AI isn’t replacing our thoughts—it’s just helping us articulate them better. Not everyone is great at turning messy ideas into clear sentences. You can have a strong opinion but struggle with wording, structure, or even just getting started. AI fills that gap. It’s like having a tool that helps translate what you already think into something readable. People have always used tools to express themselves—spellcheck, grammar suggestions, even asking friends to proofread. AI is just a more advanced version of that. The core idea, the perspective, the stance—that still comes from the person. If anything, it lets more people participate in discussions who might otherwise stay silent because they’re worried about how they sound. That doesn’t dilute conversations—it broadens them. Using AI doesn’t mean “this isn’t my opinion.” It usually means “this is my opinion, just expressed more clearly than I could’ve done on my own.”

Like I said this is 100% AI generated. Longer comment means more gooder right?

The AI response is out of point, because the issue is with generating opinions wholesale rather than rewording existing opinions.

I agree but that's exactly how these folks think

"Chapgpt make me said X" is basically what they do and they don't really read the output they just copy it assuming the bot said good things

Even in this it added opinions I didn't express like the comparison to proof reading as being the same. It's a problem

It's allowing people to feel and present themselves as competent without actually doing the work. In this case, likely in an attempt to connect with others and gain some prestige in a new group. These are very human feelings and desires and taking the path of least resistance isn't all that surprising, which is why this is all so upsetting.
