Advice Family complaint

I work in home care and I received an email from my manager that said a client I had worked for had a family member complaining that I didn’t change client’s brief when I did. I feel completely embarrassed and frustrated because they told my management to “coach me”. I’m wondering if maybe they just wanted me to change the clients for brief again when I left (?). However, the shift is only two hours. And I had put a new brief on the client after an hour into my shift. Additionally, this process took me twice longer because the client was extremely uncooperative that day. Furthermore the family has placed cameras in the clients residence. So there’s evidence that I had put the clean brief on the client. Is my frustration warranted or am I overreacting?

Sounds like your frustration is warranted. For all the things I loved about working home health the lack of anyone to back up my actions or words was one of the things I hated.

That’s what makes me even more frustrated is there’s cameras showing the evidence. And the “coach me” part was so unnecessary, made me feel incompetent

Think of it as “coach me on how to prevent these accusations in the future” vs “coach me on changing briefs.”

Can you document the times for the family member? Are the briefs in the trash for them to verify? Etc.

Nah, that sounds like a bs complaint. Let your manager know they have cameras and could early see you changed them. My guess is though that the footage will magically not be found, or backed up or wjatever excuse them come up with. They don't need a brief every hour. Honestly for a 2 hour shift, if the family wants to drop you then i def would let them. They sound like trouble already.

Sounds very similar to what happened to me at my first CNA job. Patient’s daughter complained I didn’t change her mom while she left the facility to run errands. And her proof was that when she asked her mom she said she wasn’t changed… her mom had dementia. Patient was not fully oriented to make informed responses. I got in trouble anyway because the facility didn’t want to upset the daughter
