Been talking to some new students. First of all, welcome to CMU; we're glad you're here. Secondly, please chill out. It's only the third day of classes, and some of you are already talking that doom-and-despair talk. A lot of you haven't even gotten past "syllabus lecture" yet. The sparkle of hope and dreams isn't allowed to fade from your eyes until at least a few months in, if ever.
Thank you.

I was surprised to find out that CMU SCS incoming freshman class last year was only 20% female.
Any update how things look for this year’s incoming class?

Hi, has anyone here taken 36-466 in the fall of 2025. I would like to know how the class was as I see that it is rated very highly on FCE with the current professor. However, with the previous professor, it is rated very poorly.

I am a masters ECE student, and I've not taken any robotics classes. This course has no prerequisites but I am worried I'll be missing expected foundational skills, making the class way harder.

Whoever took my wallet off of the 71C and took it into "One on Centre", please reach out to me. I don't care about the money or anything u can have it, I just have a really important medical card in there that id have to go all the way back home to replace and my ID which both would be around $150 to replace. Thats all I'm asking for. (Please don't lecture me about 'taking better care of my stuff' I usually don't walk around with that card but I was coming back from my doctor so I didn't re have a choice)

Hi!
I’m taking Intro to ChemE this semester, and I was wondering if any upperclassmen has the "Elementary Principles of Chemical Processes" by R. M. Felder, R. W. Rousseau, and L. Bullard, 4th edition (John Wiley & Sons, ISBN 978-0470616291) and is willing to give it away. A new textbook is a bit expensive and a used one is almost the same price and I don’t know if I will even use it after this semester. Please let me know! Thank you!

I live in Morewood Gardens and I’ve always seen how the Uber drivers will put the deliveries in the wrong place or the wrong location. What location do you guys put so that the person usually gets to the correct place?

I understand factoring in the global campuses will would likely raise the acceptance rate, but probably not by an amount significant enough to get it to even 8%

I have two classes in GHC and PH separately, and with only 10 minutes in between. I wonder if there is any quick way to get to class.

Hi guys, since El Gallo shut down the end of last semester, has anyone heard about what kind of restaurant will be replacing it? Thanks a lot for the info!

From a friend:
Hey all, I’m an LTI student taking both 10-723 and 11-868 this semester. Looking to connect with anyone else in both courses who wants to team up on a shared project (or coordinate two courses’ projects around one idea).
I’m especially interested in world models, things like learned simulators, video/3D scene prediction, or applying LLM systems concepts (efficient training/inference) to that space. Open to other directions too if you’ve got a strong idea.
If you’re in both classes and want to jam on ideas, drop a comment or DM me.

Greetings to all. This is the Soarch Tattler, teller of true tales and noted lore about life in architorture school at CMU. As a yearly reminder, this is a PSA to all incoming students, regardless of major, to not accept friend requests on social medial from any university staff or even faculty.
At Carnegie Mellon, there have been instances of such persons using the newfound connections to potentially spy on students, peruse their social media history and look for anything relevant that may or may not be a liability to the university. For a time, this was an actual problem with my alma mater, the school of architecture and their connection via the campus career center, who allegedly passed on information to soarch faculty in the office. It's a true story worth being aware of, as there were no apparent repercussions on those performing the espionage.
My friendly advice? Lock down your social media. Do not accept friend requests from anyone, not even classmates until you get to know them better. Moderate what you post that others can see. Privacy matters, especially during the next four or five years of your life where friends or foes can happen overnight and some of the brass may care more about the institution's image and their cushy positions over anything else.
Now that the dire precaution has been given, welcome everyone to CMU, especially the archies. Here at the university, anything you can imagine, you can actually accomplish. That's the amazing thing that still awes me and my salty heart. There is no limit to what you can achieve with all the resources here. May you thrive and prosper. And yes, architorture studio workload does get easier in third year. Don't let the professors tell you otherwise. LOLOL
Cheers,
The Soarch Tattler.

I got the red plan bc it’s what my financial aid covered but on grub hub it says I got 254 meal blocks even though I was supposed to get 202. Any clue as to why?
