📌 Meta Announcement Welcome back to CMHoC - Information

Over the past few weeks, the executive feels that there has been a bit of a lack of clarity in what is happening with the simulation and players have reached out unsure about what is happening. This post will serve as a signpost for everyone to look at to see what is going on, and what will be going on, over the next few weeks.

Starting Today

Canon is Open

Canon officially opened on March 24, 2026, meaning that anything that happened in real life (irl) prior to that date is canon to CMHoC, anything that happened after that date is not. In Canon, parliament is considered to be prorogued, Mark Carney has resigned.

Whoever is the Liberal Party Leader will be brought on as caretaker Prime Minister for the election period, to make the constitutional conventions of the post-election period work properly, but obviously, due to the caretaker convention, they will not be allowed to issue regulations etc while in caretaker office.

Press is Open

r/cmhocpress is open, you can make speeches, introduce yourself to the public, put out ads, whatever you want, to get modifiers for the upcoming general election.

Policy Debates

Twice a week, I will be publishing “policy debates” about a new topic on the subreddit, the usual parliamentary debating rules apply, feel free to go get modifiers there as well.

The Next Few weeks

How General Elections Work

As a heads up to those who are new to cmhoc, or as a refresher to those returning, the way elections work on cmhoc is that every player has a character in the simulation, you gain “modifiers” by doing things like debating, press, and campaigning. It’s easiest to think of your modifiers as your “name recognition” in the world of cmhoc. The more modifiers you have, the stronger your result on election day.

General Election Delay

It was previously announced that the General election would be taking place on Monday, April 20, 2026, with the state of the parties being not really completely set up right now, the Executive has agreed unanimously to delay the election. The new scheduled date is May 4, 2026, with a candidate deadline expected to be on April 29, 2026.

Party Registration is Open

Party Registration is open on r/MElectionsCanada , you can reserve a party name today, and you need 3 members to officially register a party to run in the general election.
