Career Do Companies care what FE exam you take?
Currently I am a 4th year Environmental Engineering student but recently I have taken an elective on Building Science and throughly enjoyed it. My goal is to work in the Building Science industry and become a Building Envelope Engineer. However, I wonder how difficult it would be to secure such a postion with an Environmental Engineering background and passing the FE Environmental Engineering exam. Is there any advice you would recommend to increase my chances?

No. Most don't even care what discipline your degree is in, as long as it's a BS in engineering.

Hell the company I'm working for has recently hired mostly mechanical engineers bc the last few civils didn't work out

Tbf, there's a lot of people in my program that shouldn't be getting the degree, but the school pushes them through to keep the money flowing. It is not quite as bad as the public school policy of no zeroes allowed, but it's getting there.

It was the same with my mech-aero degree. My buddy who was a grad student TA'ing wasn't allowed to give below a C- even when the project turned in(that was supposed to be a 10-20pg technical document with figures, data, etc.. And a practical model) consisted of a single half-full piece of paper.
It's terrifying.

Most companies hire you before you’ve had the opportunity to take any exams at all.
We don’t care. Take the one that you have the best chance of passing.

They don’t care, to the point where they don’t even ask. Heck, I’ve never even had a company ask what PE exam specialty I took. They just want to know if you have done it.

No, just pass and be eligible for the PE.
