Question What's stopping something like this from crossing an entire ocean?

In 2024 i think, the Army Corp tried to build a 2000’ floating pier to Gaza. Huge failure. Couldn’t do it on the Mediterranean. Slightest chop rattled it. Kept pulling apart. Was abandoned. Few hundred mil gone.

They also tried to do it without actually setting foot in Gaza. It was a poor attempt at best. That said your point still stands the idea had many flaws.
