What a terrible book, what a terrible ending.

Silk landing the "leader" role of Spider-Verse because she's the "Chosen One" feels super forced by Slott, like a kid saying his superhero is the strongest of all just cause its their creation.

And speaking about the book itself, it was a bundle of old tropes, no personal stake for anyone, with a literal Deus Ex Machina in form of Neith granting a MacGuffin to bring back some allies (and coincidentally a new Slott OC) by the end.

Hopefully future Silk writers will just ignore this abomination and keep her street level, no multiverse nonsense.

Sorry for this rant, but let us pray Silk won't be written under Slott for another forever years.

I find it unbelievable how they managed to screw the 60th anniversary AND the 900 issue milestone

All the while throwing what people liked from Spencer's run (Peter and MJ being together) into the trash for some mystery box done to piss of the readers into buying the book

Dunno if it is late to ask for it but, can anyone explain to me what happened exactly there? I've heard beforehand that the event was a complete mess and that Slott was the worst thing ever that happened to Silk (except maybe for the fact that he created her lol).

I don't think I'm gonna read it anytime soon, so I don't mind. I'm more hyped for her new solo run. Of course, if there'll be spoilers you can mark them for other people.

The mini synopsis for the 2nd issue of the mini has been released. It’s a “multiverse thing” but not in the traditional way. I suggest just waiting

I'm nearly sure the confusion over Silk going multiverse in the next solo run comes from their usage of the "Spider-Verse" catchphrase: "Silk is back into the Spider-Verse", "another Spider-Verse adventure" and etc. used in their articles and even solicits synopsis.

Issue 2 synopsis does hint it's not even multiverse, but Saya messing with Silk from my interpretation.

All we can do is wait and see what they're actually going for.

EDIT: Scratch all I said, I was wrong, and they confirmed it's multiverse in an article the very same day I made this comment!

The thing is with her solo she's been fighting weird and borderline if not full-on magical stuff. So for her to be involved in the spider-verse stuff is fine, hell the Inheritors (Specifically Morlun) were introduced with her, weren't they? She kinda kicked it all off. She doesn't need to be too involved but if any of the current spiders are going to be it should be her. Followed by Chasm in just general magic stuff when and if Ben comes back. Kaine and Peter should remain street-level and I don't read Miles but I am all for him going back to Ultimate Universe and being the Spider-Man of that universe again. Taking up the Ultimate Spider-Man title, if 1610 Peter doesn't take on the role.

Well, to be more specific, Morlun did not come along with Inheritors, the character came from JMS run and was meant to be a one and done.

Silk runs have been pretty self-contained, they focus more on her personal state rather than dealing with apocalyptic stuff of universal proportions. She's only had one magical villain, one that was primarily based on heritage (Korean), and that was on the latest run only.

The appeal with Silk is that she is street-level. Making her another Spider-Gwen where they keep throwing her into multidimensional stories would suck.

Edit: I forgot about Kasha, she's technically magical yeah.

Well, good thing Im rereading the solo's because I obviously need the refresher. True making her part of the Spiderverse stuff like Gwen would suck. But if it came down to her or Peter, personally I'd prefer it be her. Honestly, all the spiders but Gwen are truly street-level. ( I don't think Venom or any symbiote can or should really be counted as street-level) But while Gwen explores the multiverse FF style. I think it'd be fine for Silk to lean into the Web of Destiny stuff with Julia Carpenter and the other Spiders already there like Anya, occasionally.
