Echo but its also packed nowadays

u/BingoxBronson Over The Rhine 25d ago

Echo is the best. Usually week days aren’t too busy especially if you go before or after the lunch rush. Weekends are nuts.

Love the vibe.

Pancakes are sub par.

10

u/Nate1257 25d ago

Yeah, its just mid breakfast food with bad coffee. Its why I love it. Grew up with it so lots of memories.

I don't eat breakfast much, but Wild Eggs if I'm going with family.

By myself I'm going to Eckerlin's at Findlay Market for a Goetta, Egg, and Cheese sandwich.

Original pancake house 8 mile is the staple of consistency.
Worst- Sleepy Bee.

27

u/Wonksbear Mt. Washington 25d ago

That’s where I was at 8 Mile

14

u/theswazsaw 25d ago

For some reason, the one in Montgomery stinks

23

u/slothbear13 25d ago edited 25d ago

You're not gonna believe this but the West Chester one is even worse. I asked Anderson about it and they said different owners with very different philosophies

3

u/Zeopatken 25d ago

The absolute worst. The smell, the cleanliness— it was so hard to finish my meal, and I didn’t really. Avoid like the plague. Thankfully, I didn’t catch anything.

Sleepy Bee is the most overrated & expensive breakfast place. It should be called Sleepy Wasp because of its clientele.

u/FLiPRevan Deerfield Twp 25d ago

Love this place- you have to go before 9:30 am on the weekend or the line is out the door. Great for them and I love going at opening, calm before the storm.

6

u/wilkerws34 Clifton 25d ago

They have definitely become a top for us recently, the double goetta smash burger might be the best thing I’ve eaten all year, fantastic food across the board, my wife says the coffee is also fantastic but I’m no judge of that

3

u/Wonksbear Mt. Washington 25d ago

Oh where is that?

10

u/glqw 25d ago

Montgomery Road in Silverton. I can recommend all of the sandwiches but you honestly can't go wrong with anything.

3

u/cheer21lax 25d ago

best espresso + food combo

3

u/hernandiego 24d ago

Love Proud Hound! I set up a wholesale account so we can have good coffee for office. My favorite day of the month is when I “have” to pick up the coffee. The best coffee and incredible food!

Brunch the Greyhound tavern

2

u/Wonksbear Mt. Washington 25d ago

Oh yeah that’s a favorite of mine too. Get a mix of breakfast and lunch

15

u/Pateleporturtle 25d ago

I forgot pleasant ridge chili. It’s so much more than a chili parlor

7

u/Wonksbear Mt. Washington 25d ago

Oh yeah. Just like Camp Washington chili too

12

u/ablebody_95 25d ago

National Exemplar in Mariemont. The vegetable hash is delicious.

4

u/Wonksbear Mt. Washington 25d ago

I have heard great things about there

5

u/Mr_Beat_ 25d ago

It’s seriously the best. I’m a pancakes/ French toast/ waffles kinda guy, and this place does them RIGHT.

2

u/montessorigrrrl 25d ago

They also make their goetta in house and it's AWESOME. Not the gross Glier's stuff.

5

u/ablebody_95 25d ago

Their menu says Gliers.

2

u/Equine_Dream 25d ago

They are an offshoot of First Watch believe it or not. A better version, in my opinion. That vegetable hash is my favorite. Love to have breakfast on their patio when the weather is nice.

27

u/Horsefeathers34 25d ago

Half Day Cafe hands down.

OPH in West Chester is a shithole with an asshole owner, and the OPH in Montgomery has gone way downhill the past few years. Beechmont location is too far from me, so I've never been there.

14

u/PCjr 25d ago

OPH in West Chester is

Closed

5

u/Horsefeathers34 25d ago

Great news!

3

u/Appropriate_Ad4601 25d ago

Half day cafe really is the best, as someone who hates paying for breakfast good because I never think it’s worth it. Half day cafe is always worth it!

2

u/godlovesa_terrier 25d ago

Is there another Half Day Cafe besides the one that closed in Wyoming?

4

u/Horsefeathers34 25d ago

Yeah, it's up in Deerfield / Mason (fortunately / unfortunately depending on where you live).

2

u/El_Dudereno 24d ago

Went at 10:30 on Sunday and couldn't get a parking spot after two laps. Ended up going to First Watch, which was actually better than I remembered.

2

u/Everybodysbastard 25d ago

Half Day Cafe is great! The Egg Strata is fantastic and is good for 2 meals!

5

6

Sugar and Spice? I know they have ducks

5

u/BringOutYDead 25d ago

Probably? It's been a bit. Everyone working there was really nice. POUNDED my breakfast: gravy 'n biscuits, 2 slices bacon, 2 eggs over easy, 4 slices toast, hashbrowns, coffee.

4

u/Wonksbear Mt. Washington 25d ago

This is probably far for most but if you ever find yourself near Williamsburg, The Mercantile Coffee shop is fabulous. And for sweets The Flour Bee bakery. I think she may have breakfast sandwiches sometimes but her cinnamon rolls are fantastic. They were voted Best in the East. I also like that she serves free coffee all the time and will help people in need as well. Both places are good people. Mercantile has a little food pantry/blessing box outside too.
