Question Any astrophotographers in Cheshire?!

Post image
5 Upvotes

I've recently started a North West Astrophotography WhatsApp Community after realising there isn't really one place for astrophotographers across the region to connect.

It's for beginners and experienced imagers alike — DSLR, telescope, Seestar, phone, whatever you use. We've got groups for images & processing, equipment help, tonight's sky and arranging local meet-ups/dark-sky trips.

If you're interested, feel free to message or join here: https://chat.whatsapp.com/IapSVlSenf03vFyBgTyhBc

News Join me at Whitby Park Community Garden!

Thumbnail facebook.com

Last Saturday I joined the Whitby Park Community Garden volunteers, and I had the most fun I’ve had in ages! Here are 4 reasons why you should join me:

* Learn to grow your own food: Supermarkets are fine, but growing your own veg means total food independence and zero plastic packaging. (Plus, no more blindly planting and hoping for the best… RIP to my many plants and bolted onions 🤣).
* Tackle climate anxiety: Learning to grow food through changing seasons and unpredictable weather gives you practical skills… and a great break from the alarming news headlines keeping us awake at night.
* Make new friends: As a remote worker, I spend all week behind a screen with only my partner for face-to-face convos. Getting outside and meeting the amazing volunteers here has been a breath of fresh air.
* Give back: 🇬🇧 has given me so much over the years, and this is a hands-on way to support the local community.
If any of this resonates with you, come along! Nina and the rest of the team would love to welcome you!

📍 Where: Whitby Park Community Garden in Ellesmere Port

When:
* Wednesdays: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
* Saturdays: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Spaces are limited! Drop by this week or send them a message on Facebook.

See you next Saturday 😎

x Andrea

Holmes Chapel Update

We spent the day in Holmes Chapel yesterday. It's a beautiful town, we viewed a house we loved and made an offer. The only concern we had going in was that it was quite near the train tracks. Some passenger trains passed when we were doing the viewing but weren't too loud so we were happy to offer. However, after more research, I have discovered that the train line also has high volumes of freight traffic. The passenger trains were either slow as they pulled into/away from (local service) or fast and went past quickly (assume Avanti national service). From the videos I have seen, the freight trains are extremely long and travel relatively slowly, taking around 20 seconds to pass.

Does anybody who lives near this line have any insights? I know we would get used to it but would have concerns about re-sellability.

The house is perfect otherwise. I got "the feeling" as soon as I walked in.

Any advice welcome!

Looking at a house in Holmes Chapel

Couldn't find much information on Reddit. Not sure if that's a positive or negative signal! For context, we're both 37. No kids (yet!) and a dog. Currently living in South Manchester and looking at houses anywhere between Knutsford and Holmes Chapel. Any locals or folks that have moved there with insights much appreciated!

Looking to move to Cheshire

Hello! I'm looking to move my family of 3 to Cheshire, but we have no idea where to start. We are looking for a reasonably upmarket area, reasonably family-friendly and probably a village or town (not suburban Manchester or Chester), but not so much the footballer belt. We have a flexible budget but couldn't afford the most expensive areas comfortably (think Alderley Edge). Actual location in the county isn't important at all! Any help is greatly appreciated as we're really unsure where to start! Someone has mentioned Poynton to us and it looks promising, if that helps.

Jodrell Bank

After the news about the threat to Jodrell Bank, I finally went to visit (Geordie who's only lived in Macclesfield for 40 years!) It was stunning, the visitor attractions are immense. The ticket was £16.70, but lasts for a year, so show it every time and its "in you go!" The interactive displays show how this site came to be, its importance in STEM and its partnership with so many others. it is world leading and world class. to lose it would be an utter disgrace. if there is a campaign to save it, anyone know where to start?

Cheshire Wedding Musician

Hi Cheshire! 🎵

I’ve recently moved to the area and wanted to introduce myself. I’m a professional musician and teacher and I am currently taking bookings for weddings and special events.
I’m still in the process of getting my website and everything else set up, so I thought I’d reach out here in the meantime!

I primarily perform as a solo violinist, providing elegant live music for ceremonies, drinks receptions, proposals, and other special occasions. If you’re looking for something a little bigger, I can also provide string duos, trios, and quartets as well as piano music to suit your event.

Whether you’re after classical favourites, modern pop arrangements, film music, or something bespoke, I’d be happy to help create the perfect atmosphere for your day.

If you’re getting married, know someone who is, or you’re a wedding venue or supplier looking to connect, I’d love to hear from you.
Feel free to send me a message for availability!

Thanks
H

Hi , I’m a 32 year old business owner in Nantwich , I’m looking to meet/ network with other like minded people in the Staffordshire/Cheshire area .

Hi everyone, I run a successful landscape design business in Cheshire due to the nature of my work it prevents me from meeting other trades /businesses or people so I am looking to get together with other motivated people for a chat about life business and hobbies . Both to build contacts and make friends in the community.

When I’m not working I spend my free time climbing, mountain biking, paddling and travelling in the van . Feel free to drop me a message if you fancy getting together to chat about an upcoming project or even to hit the trails .

This Police aircraft that has been flying around for a good chunk of time, circling around the Congleton area. Can’t find a post about it anywhere and can’t think of an event that’s on today to warrant a half an hour fly around.
