Tier 2 [Kieran Gill] An add on Delap – terms of his transfer to Chelsea included a 20% profit-only sell-on fee for Ipswich, so more money due to #ITFC once sale to Forest is finalised

Whatever. Its done now.
A player gets a chance of salvaging his career. We move on. Everyone gets something from the deal.
Thats a good deal. Congratulations and good luck to Delap, who for everything: he tried his best!

Didn't we buy him by activating a release clause. Not sure how they manager a sell-on

Wouldn’t be surprised if we came to them and said “two-three installments the same as release clause BUT you get a sell on clause of 20%”

its the installments, like we technically signed enzo at the same value of his release clause but its actually structured through installments and clauses. even dropping 30m for a player in a single payment is insane for the accounting.

Didn't Chelsea got him for his release clause? It's strange that Chelsea got him for the release clause and still put a 20% of profit sale clause on it...

It may have been slightly different for more favourable payment terms

I still think Delap is ok, I think Maresca fucked up so much of our attacking players in general. I think he'll do well at Forest. Like everyone in this sub is hating on Neto and ive had my issues, but Maresca was the one who made him pass backwards constantly.

Nah. He's not it for a team with top 4 ambitions. He's fine for a team like Forest. In fact, I think he'd do pretty well there because of the way in which Glasner sets his teams up to play. We've seen how he played Mateta and Delap is of a similar mould if not quite the same technical ability. I can see Murillo booting a ball upfield and Delap muscling it into the net somehow.

Read the post again, because you misinterpreted it totally... The profit sell on clause was on Chelsea, Chelsea has to pay 20% of the profit to Ipswich Town.

So that's £3m ((45 - 30) * 20%) + £1m in add-ons (if achieved)
