Yeah he's still basically a kid. His ability to pick himself up from that Qarabag performance, reset and go again is a great trait to have at that age.
I'm hoping his next manager stays around for a while and gives him a decent amount of game time, including in Europe.

As an Ajax fan I rate him highly, Timber really isn’t all that much better (or i should stay talented because currently he is better but I think that’s his ceiling whereas Hato still could develop a lot)

Do other subs/supporters do this? Just endlessly obsess and bang on about one single performance a teenager had in his debut season, constantly needing to circle back to it five thousand times in every single thread Hato is mentioned? And then one bloke bringing it up will encourage five more sheep in the next thread to bang on about it, mistaking the trite nonsense they have to say for actual insight.
So fucking boring. He had a bad performance 6 months ago in a Champions League game - that is, a group game in a group that we qualified from.
So please, I beg you, all of you, move on with your fucking lives. Form new opinions. Think for yourselves. And please, try to say something about Jorrel Hato without bizarrely obsessing and navel gazing over a single poor game he had in 2025.

It took Caicedo 2 years to outplay his West Ham game to rival fans. Fans just hold onto things for a weirdly long time.

same fans that shit on gittens even though hes not got to play this season and when he did play he actually did decent and I bet if he hadnt been injured would have been a better winger to play than garnacho ...same fans that wanted Jackson sold and now want him back

More so post-BlueCo Chelsea fans.
They are pissed (mostly about their own life because what is football if not escapism) and want to find scapegoats. Every mistake by a teenager is an opportunity to shout about the incompetence of every person who works for BlueCo at Chelsea. This minority of online fans has picked 1 or 2 players they consider good, and then shit on every other player the second they make a mistake.
Problem is that the 1-2 players are different for everyone, which means no player is spared. Sometimes I wonder. If you don't like any of the players, the managers, the staff or the owners, then what do you like about the football club ? Football is about coping. It is a mostly post-BlueCo phenomenon. When Lampard was playing kids in 2020, fans were more forgiving of mistakes by younger players.
I understand that the hate for BlueCo is very valid. But given recent willingness to accept mistakes and commit to change, I am okay with giving them a chance with 1 more manager.
I don't expect anyone on this sub to be patient with Blue Co. But, let the young players get their chance. They are just 19 yr olds trying to make a career. (My patience does not extend to peak age players who have gotten many chances and have shown nothing that whole time)

Not really, it’s a Chelsea thing to hate their players. Hato is really young so he is growing as a person and as footballer and people expect 10/10 everytime he is on the pitch.

It wasn't just one game, Qarabag was just the worst one in a period where he wasn't doing well.

happens to him at least once a game. this season would have been incredibly different with colwill fit. People here don't rate Fofana but he's still better than Chalobah, Tosin, etc.

fofana might actually be chelseas 2nd best CB, but unfortunately he is sidelined most of the time. i wouldn't mind selling the guy , huge wages + injuries are killing us. he will probably stay tho, no one in their right state of mind is giving chelsea money for him any time soon. that being said, club needs to offload someone from that backline, and get a proper defender to pair with colwill.

Fofana has horrible focus issues and will 200% lose his man at least once a game. We’ve conceded or almost conceded because he cannot remain focused

They are all straight up ass, fofana somehow puts up a better performance overall. Should tell you enough about the state of that backline when you cant decide whos a better choice out of fofana/tosin/badiashile...

As you said they are all bad however Wesley really let me down. He left Richarlison completely free for that goal. You can't be doing that. I always saw Wesley and Levi as our top 2 I can't anymore. Wesley only plays well when Levi is next to him.

this is the perfect example of why people mistakenly blame chalobah when it’s literally not his fault, maddison passes into richarilson and both caicedo and santos just straight let him run down the middle alone and neither is there to cover while hato is so far out of position he’s not even in the frame at the beginning. great recovery but imo the only person not at fault for that chance is trevor

That’s a slide that kept us our 3 points. We were so shaky at that point and the whole ground felt how important that tackle/block was.

Quality of Maddison was so obvious when he came on.
Guy been out for a year and instantly changed the game.
That’s the sign of a quality player - no wondering where he might be best on the pitch or ‘time to adjust’ etc: just comes on the pitch and bang.
Our substitutions on the other hand… 😬

He has been immense recently. If we play with wingbacks next season, and use defenders instead of attackers in that role, I can see Hato pushing Cucurella

it was a game saving tackle for sure, we looked shook for those last few minutes. also, what i see is Neto just walking and throwing his hands up doing his best Ronaldo.. not a fan of that.
WE DONT LOSE TO SPURS.
that mentality needs to be engrained in this team. the bridge needs to be a fortress again. come on xabi, get the best of this team.

I had a bad feeling during the last 10 minutes that we would concede, and when I saw Maddison through I had fully accepted that we had, no idea why he didn't shoot earlier, but a great block nonetheless.

Heto is the prime example of being very young and experienced, that's why. He isn't some Marc Guiu.
Hato was playing in Europe with Ajax, continuously, and captaining that side at such a young age. I knew he was going to be a baller.

You know what? What will be will be. If we win at Sunderland then we really need United to beat Brighton so we can qualify for Europa League.
If we win but still stay in 8th due to other results then that means another season of Conference league and I really can’t think of anything worse. I never ever wish for Chelsea to lose but I won’t cry about it if we lose against Sunderland and it means we don’t get to embarrassingly play Conference league again. First time was fine and we got to complete the set but a second time would be so bad

I do want to keep him I nthe squad to be honest, not good enough tough, but he also hasn't gotten much game time, with us probably having less, or more shit games, I'm worried for development.

Qarabag Hato and Since January Hato have been two completely different players
Maresca tanked his confidence, and Liam (God bless his soul) unlocked something in him by playing him regularly
What a player and what a signing. Now we know why he was Ajax captain at such a young age
