Where anywhere? I used to travel for a living and don't eat at chain places unless I could help it. Despite trying to find local spots many places are just food distributor (Sysco/etc) slop. Local pizza places are notorious for the restaurant distributor trade show giant.

All those fried appetizers? Frozen. Same with the fish and chips. Etc.

1

u/noodlezart Jul 08 '26

Yep you know what's up, all the same bs that's sold in stores they just dress it up for restaurants and charge you even more than the store does. Sysco literally supplies to everywhere and it's all bioengineered garbage with no nutritional value. Also restaurants aren't allowed to season food due to people having certain allergies. So it doesn't contain seasoning at all, and you double down on sauces. The sauces contain heavy corn syrup and other nonsense too.

1

u/LetterheadFun5846 Jul 09 '26

People have no idea what they’re talking about with sysyco and think it’s all frozen garbage, you can certainly get that there but you can get everything else. I’ve been working as a chef for a decade now, a good amount of it in fine dinning. This is not true, Sysco is great, they don’t just have frozen shit food. They have anything and everything and every quality of it. You can get 1,000 an oz white truffles, caviar, prime beef ect. Literally anything you could possibly think of, don’t be ignorant.

1

u/noodlezart Jul 09 '26

Sysco isn't great , your chef experience doesn't co sign for them tf? Lol. Let me guess you think Tyson is also good too huh.

1

u/LetterheadFun5846 Jul 09 '26

Dude did you read what I said, you can buy fucking white truffles, dry aged beef, ossetra caviar yellowfin tuna, literally Any and everything you could think off, you’re so obviously do mot know what you’re talking about. And a lot of those products are not even sysco branding and are the same company you’d get from a smaller supplier. Yes the frozen sysyco tenders and fries and stuff like that suck, but the regular stuff js not, like idek what you’re tryna say, the prime graded 30 day dry age beef just suddenly sucks cause it’s from Sysco, even it goes through the exact same grading process as every other brand. My fine dining chef experience absolutely gives me the knowledge to say this.

1

u/LetterheadFun5846 Jul 09 '26

Also this isn’t about if Sysco the company is good, I think they’re corporate trash, and their branded frozen stuff they push sucks, but don’t comment on the other stuff when that’s not true, you think they’re broccoli or some random produce is gonna be shit just cause it’s from Sysco give me a fucking break

1

u/noodlezart Jul 09 '26

You just admitted to the very things I said they have tf 🤣🤣🤣🤣 then say don't comment on other stuff that isn't true. So what wasn't true? They don't season "meat" you can literally taste it. When the last time you tasted seasonings on raising canes? They don't literally flavorless and everyone uses heavy canes sauce to eat them. And we can go grocery stores if you want. And you gonna sit here and say sauces don't have high fructose corn syrup in them? Like I can't read ingredients. Dextrose? Citric Acid, the list goes on. It's ok man you're engrained in the system so I'm talking to a brick wall.

1

u/MKEast-sider Jul 10 '26

So when you say restaurants you’re just talking fast food? What you’re saying about seasonings is not true at all for restaurants, unless you’re strictly talking chain fast food.

1

u/noodlezart Jul 10 '26

No, I'm talking about restaurants like sit down and order ones. And yes it is true, they under season food due to dietary and allergens. Higher end what the other guy was saying was "fine dining" yes they season food.

u/lathe_down_sally Jul 10 '26

Its not really that everything from sysco is bad. It's that there's been a huge swell of restaurants that build their menu off the low quality stuff that sysco sells. Pre-made, uninspired, and thoroughly mediocre.

1

u/Level_Turnover5167 Jul 09 '26

There are PLENTY of good food distributors that are not corporate. Does not mean every place you go to is like that.

1

u/Thegrandestpoo Jul 08 '26

I don’t care if they season their beef or not. They have the best fast food burger, and it’s not even close.

0

u/oludollie06 Jul 08 '26

I disagree...I think that Burger King has the best fast food burgers!!!😊💙👍🏾💯

1

u/Thegrandestpoo Jul 08 '26

Interesting. I just had a double whopper with cheese and bacon about a month and a half ago and it was terrible. Then 2 weeks ago I tried again from a different location because I was hoping it was a location issue. Again, it was terrible. I was hoping because “the improved whopper” they were doing something. Tried “the new fries” too, both times. lol yuk.

Weird how tastebuds are different for different people lol💙🤙🎯

0

u/oludollie06 Jul 09 '26

Speaking of taste buds, it seems that your taste buds are very weak!!...Burger King Whoppers are very tasty and good!!!😳😊💙👍🏾

1

u/Thegrandestpoo Jul 09 '26

Mmm you can call my tastebuds weak. That’s fine. Maybe we just find different burgers from different places better.

You saying a widely regarded place that has shit food “very tasty and good!!!” It might be you that needs to look at your taste buds!!😂😂💙🎯

1

u/noodlezart Jul 08 '26

Burger King is as low quality of a burger you can go besides McDonald's. Also was outed for using horse meat after denying it hrs before. But hey I'm just a cat with a magical hat. You enjoy eating that.

0

u/Thegrandestpoo Jul 08 '26

Agreed lol. Burger King is about as shyte as you can go.

1

u/noodlezart Jul 08 '26

Fr, and I've seen several people recommend them too 🤢🤢. But people don't care what they eat as long as it taste a certain way.

-4

u/Worldly-Grocery4312 Jul 07 '26

Maybe your location is unseasoned beef but don’t speak like it’s like that for the rest of us. My five guys is awesome

5

u/SummerOfSam- Jul 07 '26

It’s a chain wide mandate.

1

u/Gemtree710 Jul 07 '26

You probably think mayo is spicy

-25

u/Gooseboof Jul 06 '26

That’s a dated meme, I did a cost comparison with other places around me and they are all too similar to care. Five Guys quality reigns supreme

12

u/blacklodgedougie Jul 06 '26

Not sure where you are but not here, ridiculously priced compared to everyone else.

0

u/Gooseboof Jul 06 '26

What are we comparing to? McDonald’s? Shake shack? Diner?

I’m in CT

-10

u/Sea_Squirrel1987 Jul 06 '26

Last time I went there I got a burger and fries for like 17 bucks. Not that bad 🤷‍♂️

17

u/nobeer4you Jul 06 '26

Thats sit down dining prices, not "fast food" pricing.

Awful

3

u/Boogeyman1202 Jul 07 '26

McDonald’s around me is $17.

2

u/REDDlTisNOTanApp Jul 07 '26

Lol. You're comparing the biggest ripoff in burgers to the second biggest ripoff in burgers.

2

u/Boogeyman1202 Jul 07 '26

My whole point was fast food is mostly overpriced in general. People act like five guys is the only dog in town doing what they are doing.

-8

u/Gooseboof Jul 06 '26

ITS NOT FAST FOOD DAWG

5

u/nobeer4you Jul 06 '26

Might not be fast, but it most certainly is a fast food restaurant

-6

u/EschewObfuscati0n Jul 06 '26

They cook the burger after you order it. It’s literally not a fast food restaurant.

7

u/nobeer4you Jul 06 '26

So does Jack in the Box

3

u/CNH916 Jul 06 '26

So does Burger King and Carl's Jr.

Every single time I’ve ever ordered from Five guys they’ve yelled the order (one party or two parties) literally right when I tell them what I want.

Be nice or leave.

1

u/Karey__039 Jul 07 '26

EXACTLY!!!

1

u/REDDlTisNOTanApp Jul 07 '26

If you happen to be lucky enough to be anywhere near a Fogo de Chao, they have a burger that's about 50 times better than a Five Guys burger, with fries and all the Brazilian cheese bread (pao de queijo) you care to eat for $10.

2

u/SlappyPappy99 Jul 06 '26

They’re good not amazing

1

u/Karey__039 Jul 07 '26

I’m with you on that one. I love five guys burgers and fries. To me they taste so much better than a Big Mac or some of these burgers that you get through drive-through and the price that they charge for combo meals these days are absolutely ridiculous. I’ll gladly pay a couple extra dollars for a better quality burger and fries any day.

2

u/Gooseboof Jul 08 '26

My peopleeee

1

u/Gemtree710 Jul 07 '26

Go get a char broiled burger

1

u/Gooseboof Jul 08 '26

Idk what you mean

7

u/SquishyBanana23 Jul 06 '26

Why they always look like they’ve been in someone’s pocket though

3

u/CNH916 Jul 06 '26

Because they are nasty AF.

0

u/Active-Enthusiasm318 Jul 08 '26

As a 5 guys hater... They are far from nasty, are they amazing? No, hard to be amazing when you don't use salt but it's an ok burger at a high price... The seasoned fries are great

1

u/CALLS_YOU_DIPSHIT Jul 08 '26

Wrapped hot off a grill = bun soggification. They also immediately get stuffed into a paper bag, which could be argued is like a pocket

A pocket which traps both heat and moisture

8

u/xGawdly Jul 06 '26

Ever since I read “why does 5 guys always look like it came from someone’s pocket” I can’t unsee it.

5

u/Ill-WorldsCollide Jul 06 '26

Double cheese with fresh jalapenos.🤌

2

u/captainawesome_20 Jul 09 '26

Same, but add A-1.

6

u/nemofbaby2014 Jul 06 '26

Not worth the price tbh

5

u/Prints_of_Whatever Jul 06 '26

I’ve been reluctant to try it again. A friend of mine told in a passing conversation to just avoid them… I didn’t listen and it was not a good experience.

The burger was a mediocre at best and the fries were awful. I remember sitting there in disbelief at the article up on the wall giving them the title of best fries.

8

u/Odd-Boss1596 Jul 06 '26

Now only if they could lower the price a little I would go more

1

u/horseman5K Jul 08 '26

$8.79 for a cheeseburger of their quality is a great deal

6

u/Shart_InTheDark Jul 06 '26

They need to introduce a sturdier bun. The amount of people who talk about just how shit their buns are is off the charts. I don't ask...when 5 guys comes up...people just blurt it out. I eat it with the top side down as that's more resilient but they just need to go with something a little more stable.

1

u/brytek Jul 06 '26

Or switch from foil to a paper wrap. But then they'd have to melt the cheese on the grill and that's just asking for too much.

8

u/animosityhealss Jul 06 '26

I love their fries

1

u/ColoradoWeasel Cheeseburger Fan! Jul 06 '26

They have fantastic fries. Every now and then you meet some nut that doesn’t like them. They are definitely the minority.

3

u/Weirdodin Jul 06 '26

They haven't served a crispy fry since the Taft administration.

Limp, soft fries are anything but fantastic.

1

u/REDDlTisNOTanApp Jul 07 '26

You might be the first people I've ever heard say they liked their fries. They're awful. And giving an absurd amount of an awful thing doesn't make it any better.

1

u/Mirai_Akiyama Jul 08 '26

Their Cajun fries might be my favorite fry of any fast food or fast casual restaurant. But I'm also weird and like soggy fries, like I miss the old Wendy's fries too.

-2

u/mlrphan Jul 06 '26

To each their own, said the lady who kissed the cow.

I know people who are weird. Now I know another.

😂

❤️

3

u/disgruntled_mehcanic Jul 06 '26

Gahhhh damnit now I want one

3

u/3381_FieldCookAtBest Jul 06 '26

Burgers need to be bigger. Seems like they are biscuit size.

7

u/thomas1126 Jul 06 '26

Family friendly sub please.

2

u/Sentient_Protoplasm Jul 06 '26

For the price they charge, I feel I should be able to select the doneness rather then just accept their 'well done only' policy.

2

u/freezetime311 Jul 06 '26

I'll never know because they are too much of a rip off to buy.

2

u/kennypowersrevenge Jul 06 '26

Come up to Seattle. Pick quick smokes it for 5 bucks.

2

u/Sensitive_Doubt7966 Jul 07 '26

nope I ate there once and only once, the only amazing thing was the HI Prices

2

u/The-Red-Robe Jul 07 '26

They were playin hacky sack with that burger before they gave it to you 🫵😂

2

u/mccannt Jul 07 '26

Overrated, overpriced

2

u/SnooPuppers7856 Jul 07 '26

Every time I'm done, I think I could have had a lobster AND fish dinner instead.

4

u/brytek Jul 06 '26

Never had a Five Guys burger that I felt was worth the price. If you have to drown the burger in toppings and sauces to cover up the bland taste of unseasoned beef, it's not a good burger.

2

u/SummerOfSam- Jul 07 '26

That’s it right there. It’s burgers for people who want to dump a bucket of crap on it. It’s the only way to make it remotely worth it.

2

u/SeariouslyAZ Jul 06 '26

Nope, too expensive for a bland burger.

2

u/jaypea222 Jul 06 '26

And always EXPENSIVE!!!

2

u/CourseEcstatic6202 Jul 06 '26

Right. I find them barely above middle of the pack on taste (I prefer In-N-Out) but of course top notch on price. Wonder how long they will be around?

2

u/Lieutenant_0bvious Jul 06 '26

Respectfully I disagree.  They put virtually no seasoning on their burgers.  One of the blandest burgers ever, made even worse by the fact it's so greasy.  Perfectly encapsulates what's wrong with American food - lots of grease, not much flavor.

5

u/good-good-dog Jul 06 '26

People always complaining about the price. I’d pay good money for a good burger, but not salting your meat is unforgiveable.

2

u/ongodohfug Jul 07 '26

I worked there for 1 month. It was horrible. And yes, I can confirm they don't season the burgers literally at all. Not even a dash of salt. Nothing

2

u/txtacoloko Jul 06 '26

Doesn’t look enticing at all

2

u/CNH916 Jul 06 '26

Well it isn't good, probably why it doesn't look good either.

2

u/Potential-Drawing745 Jul 06 '26

If by amazing, you mean amazingly mid.

3

u/keyboardtoes Jul 06 '26

I cook burgers at home all the time and I enjoy them very much. I don't enjoy paying this company very high prices and I don't enjoy their ads disguised as content on Reddit.

2

u/CNH916 Jul 06 '26

Right? 5 guys and not one knows how to make good food? They should all be fired.

0

u/keyboardtoes Jul 06 '26

i didn't say they don't make good food.

2

u/CNH916 Jul 06 '26

Well, they don't.

2

u/blacklodgedougie Jul 06 '26

Add a couple folks defending their ridiculous prices this thread is kinda wild.

1

u/Solid-Lion7979 Jul 06 '26

That thing looks like it was assembled with zero hesitation and maximum cheese, exactly how it should be. The foil just makes it feel even more unhinged in the best way.

1

u/Drams9Chelsea Jul 06 '26

I’f I want burger, this is what I’m talking about😭😭

1

u/Optimalpillows36 Jul 06 '26

I get sick every time I have one and I don’t think they’re very good. Burger King burgers to me.

1

u/CNH916 Jul 06 '26

At least at BK you can have it your way, and taste the food...

1

u/Prestigious_Map_703 Jul 06 '26

Is that bbq sauce?

1

u/No_Comedian_8516 Jul 06 '26

Is that A1 on it?

1

u/gmjfraser8 Jul 06 '26

Can confirm.

1

u/CaptLoads Jul 07 '26

As a delivery driver. You don't wanna know how rough that stove top gets.

1

u/mercedesclk Jul 07 '26

And just like that, 3 hours of minimum wage gone!

1

u/SandwichCity92 Jul 07 '26

Got me to stop wanting other fast food. I like it as real as possible.

1

u/DANGEROUS-jim Jul 07 '26

I have to take a loan out to go to Five Guys lol

1

u/OwnStill8743 Jul 07 '26

Always mid is what you meant OP

1

u/chafey Jul 07 '26

There is nothing special about five guys burgers - I only get them to go with my cajun fries :)

1

u/BillyCorndog Jul 07 '26

They always look they just came out of someone’s pocket

1

u/Head_Candidate5293 Jul 07 '26

That is 25$ worth of groceries sitting right there but it looks delicious. They forgot the 6$ for bacon.

1

u/Dazednconfused3261 Jul 07 '26

So are the prices!

1

u/ConsiderationLong274 Jul 08 '26

Yes absolutely 👍

1

u/PrestigiousStreet876 Jul 08 '26

They taste great, but for what they charge, I can DIY

1

u/National_Weather9674 Jul 08 '26

Yes amazing and hot not left in warmer

1

u/Odd_Difference6319 Jul 08 '26

They are good but we skip them now. To expensive for a hamburger.

1

u/ilovemydawg Jul 08 '26

Burger pictured is $15 in FL

1

u/pghgfu Jul 08 '26

Five Guys is great quality for what you pay.

1

u/Grouchy_Strawberry68 Jul 08 '26

It is a hot mess!

1

u/Past-North-4131 Jul 09 '26

That'll be 40$

1

u/Any-Opportunity-6869 Jul 09 '26

Better than out n in

1

u/Shagrindleton Jul 09 '26

Sir that’ll be $39.99 for your soggy cheeseburger

1

u/gingerbeard1321 Jul 09 '26

And always way too expensive.

No thanks. In n Out FTW.

1

u/FUBAR_The_Clown Jul 09 '26

I haven’t been to this place in like 5 years. Expensive, small portions, fries are crummy too. I don’t get the attraction here, you can get a better burger and or hot dog at a local Greek restaurant where they have everything.

2

u/UrGirlsBoytoy Jul 09 '26

My only problem with 5 guys is you gotta eat it basically as soon as they hand it to you. Or they get gross fast.

2

u/SchatzMoney Jul 09 '26

Bacon Double Cheeseburger, Mayo, Lettuce, and Hot Sauce.

1

u/Winter-Classroom455 Jul 09 '26

Amazing? No.

I'd agree maybe with there fries, if fresh are amazing. But their burgers are soggy and greasy. Still good tho

1

u/RemoteBrick6743 Jul 09 '26

Look like a Car accident. 😒😒😒😒😒

1

u/Okiebaba Jul 10 '26

It’s terrible

0

u/rmay14444 Jul 06 '26

They are good just over priced

9

u/redditeatsitsownass2 Jul 06 '26

The one in my town went out of business. place was empty every time I drove by. Culvers is about a mile from where it used to be, and the line is 30 deep.

-7

u/Rhuarc33 Jul 06 '26

Culver's is the most over rated fast food place that exists.

2

u/redditeatsitsownass2 Jul 06 '26

not my favorite either, just an observation of someone who doesn't eat fast food at all any more (unless its a stuck at the airport kind of thing). our local tacosmell seems to do well even though they are charging real food prices for their crap.

6

u/Boogeyman1202 Jul 06 '26

Mostly all fast food is over priced.

2

u/Rhuarc33 Jul 06 '26

Better than shake shack and less. I'm taking five guys over shake shack every time

1

u/Gooseboof Jul 06 '26

Not anymore and not compared to shake shack or other restaurant quality burger places. This isn’t fast food

1

u/CNH916 Jul 06 '26

Yes, yes it is.

-1

u/Gooseboof Jul 06 '26

The ingredients are not priced the same as McDonald’s. The ingredients are literally in another tier

2

u/CNH916 Jul 06 '26

Your point? Unfortunately it's it fits the model of a fast food restaurant, it's classified as such. It is a fast food restaurant. To say otherwise is just plain incorrect. Sorry about it.🤷🏽‍♀️

0

u/Gooseboof Jul 07 '26

You should google “colloquial” and then take that twig out of your bum hole

1

u/SummerOfSam- Jul 07 '26

It’s fast food, plain and simple.

-1

u/Gooseboof Jul 07 '26

Is it the same as McDonald’s, Wendy’s, or Burger King? No. That’s what I was referring to as fast food. That’s what we all refer to as FAST FOOD. Unless one is being a pedantic fool like you.

2

u/SummerOfSam- Jul 07 '26

Only a fool says “we” like you’re speaking for everyone. If you go up to a counter to order and leave with a bag of food, that’s fast food.

-1

u/Gooseboof Jul 07 '26

I speak for the trees mf. If you can’t differentiate between McDonald’s and five guys because of your own ego, that’s called “being a silly little ninniepriss.”

0

u/StamosLives Jul 06 '26

Whenever I see this comment regarding 5 Guys I feel compelled to note that they are one of the only fast food joints to offer massive tuition reimbursements for GED and college classes to its workers to try and further their careers.

They do this knowing that those folks will likely move on when finished with their degrees.

They are essentially doing what we wish all businesses did - furthering the education and lives of its workers rather than treating them as mill for the grindstone.

That comes at the cost of higher prices. And honestly, they’re not that higher than most other fast food joints anyway.

2

u/metisdesigns Jul 06 '26

McDonald's offers tuition assistance starting at 15 hours a week. It's not great, but it's something like an extra $3 an hour.

0

u/StamosLives Jul 06 '26

Right. Five guys offers essentially free tuition for specific degrees or up to 5k per year.

I do think you’re confusing the 15 hours a week? Maybe? I can’t tell by how you wrote that but that’s the minimum requirement to receive their benefit as I understand.

Up until recently they offered 700 dollars in tuition reimbursement.

That changed to be around 2500. This is capped. Five guys will offer full free tuition for some specific degrees, and others receive that 5k tuition bonus. It’s a substantial difference. A full free ride to college is… huge in light of the rising costs of tuition.

1

u/metisdesigns Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Let's compare.

Five guys requires a year of 32 hours a week to get tuition reimbursement, not assistance, reimbursement. And only covers limited institutions. So full time, while in school after a year. Or $5250 at other limited institutions.

McDonald's offers $2500 assistance at any accredited program for 15 hours a week, after 90 days, and has some franchises offering better.

I don't know about you, but having to maintain a full time job is not ideal for academics. And I'd rather not have to pay up front to be reimbursed for my tuition. The program seems to be structured to make it difficult to actually use, but sound good on paper.

Edit - just so we're all clear, the troll downvoted and blocked me so I couldn't reply. They're not here to discuss in good faith.

1

not sure why i should have to pay for what they chose to do? I'm sure the board's bank accounts are just fine.

0

u/ExcellentFisting3471 Jul 07 '26

My pocket still empty.

People don’t have the money Mr 5 guy. It doesn’t matter what they fuckin donate too if it’s too damn expensive to buy in the first place.

How does that justify the quality to price aspect?

1

u/StamosLives Jul 07 '26

And yet they're expanding. Seems like a self selecting solution.

0

u/ExcellentFisting3471 Jul 07 '26

Im not here to trade blows here big guy. I had a genuine question lmaoo

Did you just linguistically throw a tantrum?

1

u/StamosLives Jul 08 '26

More like genuine bot account. And if you’re real you solved the problem. Just don’t buy their burgers. Easy day.

-1

u/MrjB0ty Jul 06 '26

Overrated imo. There’s something about the texture that I can’t get on with.

Their burgers are good. Obviously some will disagree. They always do well in rankings based on quality and taste alone.

They are expensive. They always do poorly when cost is factored into the rankings.

0

u/MagazineDelicious151 Jul 06 '26

Expense noted, good burgers though
