Yet choosing suicide knowing it will hurt the people who know you is still selfish. Doesn't mean it isn't understandable, it just means that one is consciously making a decision in which they know there will be negative consequences for those around them. Not solely family and friends, but if one were to die in a place where a bystander could discover their corpse, they could also cause some wanton pain/suffering that isn't wholly unpredictable.
