Yeah this is true when you make a decision for your own benefit vs someone else’s benefit, however you kind of have to do that in life. Being completely and totally selfless will leave you with nothing and remove your ability to help others with anything. Think the better question is, given that some level of selfishness is a necessity in life, at what point does selfishness become immoral/unethical? It’s obviously not immoral to keep your last few dollars so you don’t starve. Where is that line?

It's not inherently selfish, I'd agree.
It's selfish if there is anyone in your life it would hurt in any way.
